Hey just wondering if anyone has experience getting an engagement ring designed?
I know a jewellery designer/goldsmith (not sure what you call them?) who we are going to go and meet. We got engaged with a'promise ring' so are now looking for the real thing.

My fiancee has found a ring she loves in a jeweller (ridiculously overpriced) and just wanted to know if anyone has used a designer to copy a ring and if its possible to do from only pictures?

Once you have good quality images from the side and top of the ring and an idea of the width of the shoulders then it is very straightforward. Make sure you know size of centre stone in images as the goldsmith will then make ring to scale.

    Gafferino,
Did something similar for the proposal, and got the engagement ring designed and made to order, about six weeks in total, in the south east (we are in Dublin).
If you are going to go with diamonds, rubys, emeralds, etc, they should be all graded, certified through IGI or GIA.
Thus, and dependent on whether the ring itself is (white) gold, platinum, you should definitely shop around. You can get the ring you want for your future other half with a potentially bigger and better quality diamond/precious stone. The mark up for mediocre diamonds in big/well known jewllery stores in Dublin is incredible, especially when you ask to see the diamond certificate and find out what you are actually paying for.

Getting a ring designed will be bespoke. The jewellers we went to drew what he thought my wife might want dependent on what she described, and pictures she brought. PM if you want more details.

We got wedding rings made by Michael Horan in Tullamore. He did a great job, it matched my engagement ring pattern well and he followed the design I'd drawn from his suggestions.
I know he also does engagement rings. I'm sure he'd have no problem making a ring to a pattern or photos.

Seamus at Voltaire Diamonds makes bespoke rings, so I'd say he'd definitely be one to contact. My fiance and Seamus sat down and designed my engagement ring, my fiance said he was really lovely to deal with, not at all pushy and had lots of ideas and experience. Might be worth checking out?

Yes, he himself is certainly on the go.

His contact for the chandeliers is in this little website. He would be a tinkle anyway, as if can't do it for you I am sure that he knows someone who can!!!
