Advice on getting a house fitted with an alarm
    Hi,

Im living in town house in Dublin. I have got a few quotes for installing an alarm system ranging from 500 - 950e. The prices included sensors on the windows downstairs, a PIR sensor on landing and a GSM dialer (as we dont have phone line). There are 8 windows in the house. We're not too bothered about having the alarm monitored or the dialler really, but just want the standard alarm system in.

How much should we be paying for the alarm installation for a wireless version?

    Any recommendations?

A rough estimation would be really appreciated.
    Cheers

There is some good information here.

There is also some installers listed here.

To compare some wireless systems see the comparisons here.

The price range would also depend on what system you are getting quoted for.
Perhaps you can let us know.
At a minimum all ground floor/accessible windows and doors should be covered by sensor and contacts.
The best way forward is to get at least 3 quotes & make sure you compare like with like. Insist on a site visit. This will ensure you are getting the best advice & best system to suit your property & your needs.
Get all quotes in writing & ask what's included & what's not, particularly when it comes to maintenance contracts. Some company's charge you annual maintenance & may still charge you for callouts & labour as well.
If your looking at monitoring make sure to ask what phone providers your monitoring will work with. They all work but some installers try to tell you otherwise.
Hope this helps, if you need any more help let me know.

That really depends on the system and what you need covered in your home. The best thing to do is get a few local installers to survey your home and compare like with like of the system they want you to have installed. €500 including a GSM, what type system was that for?
