Any road services open overnight?

I'll be bringing a group of kids in 50 seater bus from Mayo to Rosslare overnight.
It's over 6 hours drive, so to be in line with law I need to take 45 minutes break in between. Normally it's not a problem as I stop at McDonalds or sth and kids enjoy their time.

But I started wondering if there actually is any place, which would be open during the night where kids could use the toilet, buy some snacks, etc? Approx time I'll need to take a break is between 3 and 5 in the morning.

I was thinking about stopping at Applegreen services in Enfield, but I can't find any information if this is actually open during the night. Surely petrol station is, but are all the food courts?
Maybe there is some place around Limerick that would be open?
I can really choose any reasonable way between Mayo and Rosslare, as finding a good stopping place is a priority.

    Any advice please....

According to the applegreen website the enfield services are 24hr

Edit: AFAIK it is part of their contract to offer food 24hr

If that's true, it's a great news for me.
But I asked few acquaintance from Dublin and they mentioned it was only petrol station open, and no food served overnight. I also couldn't find any information on their website.
I really hope you are right though ;)

If this is like the Applegreen on the M1 it is 24 hour in the most minimal sense. You can buy petrol through a hatch and that's about it. Perhaps Enfield is different.

Ditto on the M1 stations, Burger King is closed, Costa Coffee is closed and the fresh food deli is closed in all four stations after 10ish. Theyre essentially 24 hour newsagents. Maybe Enfield is different but i wouldn't count on it.

Thats a shame to here, surely that defeats the purpose of 24hr services.

    McDonalds Cashel

Address: juction8 M8, Cashel, Co. Tipperary

A Family drive thru restaurant with a welcome for everyone at anytime We are open 24/7 with something on the menu for very taste Breakfast served from 5am to 10.30am every morning

What route are you planning to take? Incorporating Cashel into a logical Mayo/Rosslare route is difficult but not impossible, coming by Dublin may make more sense. If you're coming by Dublin, McDonalds in Liffey Valley and McDonalds on the Kylemore Road are open 24/7 AFAIK and neither are much of a detour off the N4/M50.

Enfield is no different, you can purchase from the shop through the hatch but Burger King etc is closed during the night. They do have a toilet which can be accessed during the night.

McDonalds in Liffey Valley seems to be a good option.
Only what I'm wondering is it fully opened 24h or is is just drive through 24h???

From my experience many 24h mcdonalds have only drive-thru open overnight, and you can't enter the building to sit in and enjoy your meal.

How does it look in case of Liffey Valley Mc'Donalds?

I was trying to ring them, but their help line is open only until 5pm.

The McD's on Kylemore is a 24hr and you can go in to sit down. And only just off the M50 if you were coming via M4, M50, M11

You sure its not just the drive thru thats 24 hour? The restaurant itself never used to be open late at night.

I stopped a few weeks ago at McDonalds Kylemore Rd around 1 in the morning & was able to walk in anyway.

Like it says on their website they are open 24h.
All I'm wondering is it just drive thru or fully opened.

    Unless there's something I don't know.

So now I need to find on a map where is actually is, as I've never been there. Sounds like a good option.

Search for walkinstown in their restaurant locator & it will show up.

Have had reason to be there at 4am on a few occasions, although not this calendar year. And as another poster has just said he was there recently I'd be fairl sure.

Jesus, it wasnt a plesent place to work years ago at night when you had the safety of glass to be behind. Wouldnt fancy it with the lobby open.

Very easy to find. Just come off at the Red Cow junction, and head for city centre, literally 5min down the road.

Its on the Naas road. Ballyfermot. Kylemore is a fairly major road. You cant miss it heading towards the city from the Red Cow roundabout at the M50.

Actually just to say, he might because there are two on that road, he'll pass the other one first & it will be on the other side of the road & its not 24 hrs. The kylemore one is further on on the left.

Isn't McDonald's on maynooth 24 hour? Might be handier than Dublin depending on what way yere heading.

According to McDonalds website it's open only 7:00 to 24:00.

But the same website says liffey valley mcdonalds is open 24h...
I'd prefer this one, as I'm familiar with the area, but some posters here said it wasn't open overnight. So no I really don't know.

Kylemore Mcdonalds looks quite far off the motorway, and it looks like you can't go straight back to M50 with the same road, as there is no right turn. I would like to avoid crusing around on streets which I don't know to find right way in the middle of the night.

In the worst case I'll just stop in Enfield so the guys will get some chocolate bars, drinks and toilet. That will do in the worst case.

If you're coming out of mc Donald's kylemore, you just cross the naas road, turn right 100m down the road, and that will bring you back onto the naas road again at the 'on the run' Esso station

Applegreen on the M4 was open during the night last year maybe it's changed in the meantime. I stopped there a couple of times at all hours of the night, coffee from the machine, muffins, some pre packed sandwiches, typical garage fare etc etc were available. Their contact details are in this link, maybe best to give them a call.

If I was you I'd stop there either way, the kids can't disappear and there aren't any possible nutjobs around as you might potentially meet in Kylemore or Liffey Valley. They could well be quiet kids but the less chance they have to cause bother the better! ;)

I'd take a flask and some sandwiches for yourself just in case but to me it's the best place to stop with a bus load of kids.

If you know what time you'll be at the Maynooth McDonalds, it may be best to ring ahead (a day or twos notice, at least), and ensure that there are enough toys (of whatever gets put in them) for fifty Happy Meals.

Better for them to know what's coming, to ensure that the skeleton crew have the stuff ready to go. It'll be basically a birthday with no birthday person.
