Theres two types of rebound: offensive and defensive. Depending on wether or not your own team shot the ball or the other team.

Rebounds are in fact a good thing as they gain possession for your team. If playing basketball it shouldnt take 6 months to get a rebound as the game only lasts 48 minutes. If your good you could get 10 or more in that time.

I'm a bit've a rebound lover myself. Theres nothing more satisfying than timing your jump and claiming that ball.

The length of time depends on how long it takes the person to genuinely get over their previous relationship.

From what I've seen, rebounds are definitely worth avoiding, for all involved. The reboundee either over-compensates to a ridiculous degree, or ends up taking out their frustrations on the new partner after a little while.
Oh, or they leave the new person to hook back up with the recently dumped one.

Best way to get over someone is to get under (or come over) someone else as the saying goes

I've been on the rebound for about a year now.
    Best-line-ever.

Nope not a bad thing. If anything it's a great way to get over a sh/tty situation in my book!:D

After 2 weeks- a month it's no longer a rebound just FYI ;)
