Lost my sky channels

I tried to test out if I could get the Irish Channels with an aerial asa precursor to getting rid of my sky multiroom.

I disconnected the box and retuned the tv and got the Irish channels. A bit blurry but for test purposes it worked.

Earlier I had put in the BAI card and fot the FTA satellite channels but not the Irish channels.

    Now my problem...

I put the Sky card back in and retuned the tv but cant get any channels at all. I've disconnected the aerial.

How do I get things back to the way they were ??

    thanks in advance.

If you are using HDMI to connect your Sky box to the TV there should be no retuning involved, just switch the TV to the HDMI input which is usually "AV" or "Source" on your TV remote control.

Do you have any writing on the screen?

How is the Sky box connected to the tv? You should use an AV connection, HDMI or scart. Leave the aerial connected to the tv.

The Saorview channels shouldn't be 'blurry' & the analogue Irish channels will be gone in a few months, so they're not much use to you.

Another thing, do you feed the Sky signal to other rooms using the RF2 connection?

    Thanks for the replies.
    Its connected with a hdmi.

Do I need to disable the TV as a source and just leave HDMI enabled.

Both tvs are fed from separate cables coming from the sky dish.

Should I be able to get access to all the channels through the sky remote or do i get the irish ones from the tv remote and the free digital ones from the sky remote.

I put the poor reception on RTE down to the aerial being in the back of the house. The front of the house is facing the dublin mountains...through a few trees. I figured I might need to get one on the roof...though I hope not

    its all very confusing:confused:

What does "disable the TV as a source" mean?

With the BAI card in the Sky box you will only get the UK Digital Channels.
The Irish digital channels will not be on your Sky box, they need to be tuned in on your Saorview TV.

If you did not get 3e and RTE News Now, you did not get Saorview.
Sounds like you were getting the old 4 channels on analogue.

In source I have the option of enabling or disabling hdmi,tv,scart etc.

you may be right on the old analogue.
what do i need to do to get saorview channels.?

Did you select menu then source?
    That's not what I meant.

There should be an AV or Source button on the remote.
Pressing it should switch to the various Scart and HDMI inputs, one of which should be your Sky box.

I think what has happened is that when you entered the tuning menu then the tv automatically switched to the tv input and is still switched to the tv input.
You only need to press the source button on tv remote and then when you press the down arrow button (there are 4 arrow buttons, up down ,right and left) the tv will highlight each input one after another. When hdmi is highlighted you should press the button marked ok or select which will be in the centre of the arrow buttons.
You may have 2 hdmi sockets on tv marked hdmi 1 and hdmi 2, make sure the skybox cable is in hdmi1 and then select hdmi1 from the source list.

Thanks, I'll give it a go tonight.

How do I sort out getting the saorview channels?
I had done a retune on the tv and only got the analogue ones.?

Got them back. Thanks for your help.

Some tv tuning menus have an option to select whether you want to tune ATV (analogue) DTV (digital) or both together.
You need to make sure your tv is scanning for digital channels
If you cant get saorview after scanning for digital channels then you need to talk to a professional.
