Sky Box Swap Query

Hey guys, simple one for you.

My dad has an ancient sky box, pre sky plus.

I have a spare sky plus box - the white one.

Can I just swap the boxes and then do a callback or ring sky to pair the card?

I presume because his box is so old there will only be one cable from dish - allowing recording and watching of same channel?

If I can do the callback myself what do I need to do on the white sky plus box to initiate this?

    Thanks in advance,

Im not sure but I think you may have to ring to get the card paired.

Why not get your dad/yourself speaking as dad to ring and ask for an upgrade. You might get a new Sky+ HD box and/or free installation but he will be tied to a 12 month contract.

You will need a quad LNB on the dish, another cable to the receiver and ring Sky to pair the card.

If the dish is very old it's probably best to replace it.

You need to ring sky to get them to pair up the card to the sky+ box and ask them to switch on the sky+ features, this wont cost you.

However you will only be able to record whatever channel you are watching, as you will need to get a quad lnb installed and a second cable brought to the room where the box is installed, you could then run another cable to a secondary room and use your old box for the fta channels such as bbc and itv etc.
