Hi is this possible to get the temp in my hot water tank displayed beside my time clock, I've a joule 300 litre tank working with solar panels( by the way crap for Irish weather been better off drinking the money) and I've a horstmann channel plus h37xl time clock, It's zoned for upstairs downstairs and hot water?.

Your solar controller will most likely have a spare temperature input, i.e. T3. If you plug in a PT1000 sensor to the controller and put the probe into the top sensor pocket of the cyliner; Joule cylinders have 3, you will now be able to see what the temperature of the water is at the top of the tank. Depending on what solar controller you have, you may have to programme the controller to recognize the 3rd sensor.

If you are hell bent on having it displayed beside your timeclock, then Stecca do a temperature display unit that can do what you wish, but be prepared, they are expensive. You will also have to wire it from the top of the cylinder to beside the timeclock.

Bought one of these http://www.tcdirect.co.uk/deptprod.asp?deptid=150/9 for my mothers house (old fashioned cylinder without thermowell). I just had to insert it under the insulation so that it measures surface temp rather than water temp. If you have a Joule 300 cylinder then the probe will slip into the top thermowell (assuming it already does not have a sensor for the Solar station).
