What is the legislation regarding a nightclub having a search policy? Is this legal, what are the guidelines that must be adhered to?

They say you will be searched if you wish to enter. Either you consent and enter or you refuse and leave.

If a nightclub wants to search people entering they must have a female security guard present to search female patrons.

im looking at this from the securities perspective. I know it happens wholesale but I always thought only the police could search you. Would there be need for female security if you were only asking women to open thier bags to search for drink?

When i was doing security and done my P.S.A. licence course the guy training us(an ex cop) told us that if your asking women to do anything at all even just opening their bags, you need a female security their.

When i worked the doors we were continually searching

Me : Hello, Have you any objection to being searched

Punter : No (Then they have a quick search and are in)
Punter : Yes (They refused admission)

Only a female door member can search (Pat down) a female but it's fine for a male member to ask them to empty their pockets onto a table, so long as the male member does not lay his hands on the female it's all good

That's the situation where you don't consent to a search. As someone said earlier, if entry is conditional on a search then it's up to the prospective customer to either consent or to walk away.

Generally, walking away tends not to be an option if the guards suspect you have something on you such as drugs or weapons.
