Hey, so picked up a set of MK5 GTI Brakes, inc the calipers today second hand, they are a little bit rusted which is to be expected, but as they are off now I'd like to clean the calipers does anyone recommend a method.

Methylated spirits or you can get cans of brake cleaner that you spray on. With the discs that surface rust is normal and will go after a short drive, I wouldn't worry about it.

Cheers! Well the front disks are too big for my 16inch wheels, which I'm using till my 18's are restored, the fronts went on no problem and the standard disks are fine! Turns out the rear calipers in the pics are seized, tried everything to pry them open and off, looks like they'll need a bit more TLC to get sorted. Someone suggested leaving them soak overnight would do the trick, but not sure what to soak them with..WD40?

Also anyone know a place that would rebuild/restore a brake caliper.

312mm discs will fit under 16's no bother.
