I have worked for the company for a few months but didn't have to interview for the position.

having talked to a few people in HR expect a few questions along the lines of "where/how do you see the DAA progressing/expanding in the future and how you can add to this"

I presume you applied for the job on the DAA website?

if its in Duty Free, I'd say the 'sales presentation' would be most likely role playing to see how you would fair selling a product - how you would 'present' the sale. I don't have experience of DAA so don't quote me on this, but that is what I would imagine it is.
Prepare you sales patter - key things are provide information (so perhaps know the Duty free limits, if the goods can be paid for and collected upon return etc, things like that) be aware of tie-in products, so for example if the customer is looking at a malt whiskey, maybe suggest some nice glasses to go with it, if they are buying a gift, can you suggest something else to add to it? that type of thing. They will also be interested if you can upsell - can you encourage someone to opt for the slightly dearer item?

I think time spent on the DAA duty free website would be time well spent.

    Thanks guys,

I applied for it through jobs.ie. Flexsource recruitment agency out in Swords had the position advertised there. I have spent the whole weekend preparing and researching the DAA, the Loop and ARI. I have worked in Retail for years and know I am well capable of link selling etc but its my nerves that will let me down i think!!

Good luck loriandidita and try to beat those nerves..

I suggest in your 'selling skills' bit that you show your awareness of the value in the airport retail ie perfumes are 20% or more cheaper than in town.. there are lots of exclusive products that you can't find anywhere else - rare whiskies, special gift packs, travel sets etc... also emphasise the additional services - Shop & Collect and the new pre order prepay service on www.theloop.ie

    good luck!!

    hey guys,

so had the final interview today and it went really well! i was expecting to have about more knowledge of the daa and the loop and i spent hours researching and learning stuff off but in the end they only asked approx 6 competency questions with regard to working on the shop floor and then my role play which literally lasted 2 mins. in and out in 25 mins which im hoping is a good thing!!! fingers crossed!

Congratulations loriandidita. I hope you'll be really happy there. I really loved working there

I was paid fortnightly, but i'm not sure if this applies to every employee, depends on the department you are in or else you employment type i.e. full time, part time, shift work. I know one of the other guys working with me was paid monthly and he was full time while I was only there on an internship so its hard to know
