dont forget numbers of drivers on the road is going down year on year plu peer pressure from all directions of all insurance companys to drop their qoutes as their figures just aren't realisitic anymore thanks to the recession...

i am with liberty too. when i asked on qoute for subaru impreza WRX they refused to give me a qoute and said they dont deal with such type of cars...

so i just bought it anyway and called to update policy. its 700eu per year for me now. 26 with 5 ncb. happy!

when my renewal was up ( was still with ford) in april they sent out me a letter with a good enough qoute, but few days later i got a phone call from them and fella droped price even more. i was very happy.

their staff was really nice and helpfull btw. gets big thumbs up from me too!

    im disappointed.

4 years no claims age 21 and full license, insured last year with quinn for €550 on the 2.0 diesel vectra. switched to the glanza v with 2 months-ish left on the policy and only charged a nominal fee to switch over the policy.

got my renewal there the other day, 5 years no claims age 22, and now they want €900! they only stopped short of doubling the policy.

i rang to question the massive hike. couldn't get an explanation more specific than "you changed car", told them i wanted to querie it further and was put on a call back list, never heard a thing from them since.

Now my first 2 years i was insured with quinn, policys costing €3500 and €2800 as far as i can remember, then last years policy being €550 thats nearly €7000 euro spend with them over the last 5 years. so for my 6th year driving (potential 4th year with quinn) for them to double my policy premium and not return my call after being IMO a good customer is ****ing sickening. customer service my hole! they are quick enough to make contact when the direct debits dont work!

yeah quinn/ liberty, good customer = gone.

Being honest 900 euro on a glanza as a 22 year old is pretty decent.

900 euro on a Glanza is good.

I was 29 and 750 on a stock ek4 was as good as I could do.
    1700 on a modified ek4. @ 29
    1900 on a stock s14 @ 28
    800 on a stock uk ca18 s13 @ 28

    At 22 I was paying 700- 850 on a 1.4 golf.

    At 18 it was 1500punt on a 1.0 Micra.

fromworking within the industary i can tell you that loylaity to insurance companys is a a big no no
you should all try on one of those new insurance brokers that feature on the add breaks there is 2 main players
both seek there insurance from rsa

i have a 2.0 tt subaru and had ins for 540 last year
quote went up to 1500 next year from aa broker jury street
no claims made by or against me
i called them and they said its due to a large volume of claims...
    a load of bollex

made one phone call and got it for 515
rang back dury street and req that they never make contact with me again and delete all of my details from there records

just goes to show shop around
i do work for liberity and they have quinns old habit of declining a claim if at all possible.
so watch what you have fitted aftermarket

These guys and their predecessors are the only crowd who'd give me a decent quote (some wouldn't even quote me) due to loading that they put on Levin BZRs

i was insured 2 years ago with quinn/liberty only for my car-van at the time was a jap import and not too many others would touch it.

takes a fair amount of messing around playing them off other insurers but i see no reason why the lad above with a doubled qoute can get that down

Expecting my renewal this week too.

It was 1800 quid on the Supra, 24, with 4 years NCB.

Got a few quotes on the Golf recently, and they were around 600 quid.

people people were forgeting that these "companys" are here to insure your goods

lets not forget that they are legaly obliged to give you a quotation at your own request so request it. and if its not up to scratch or your not getting a responce ask to speak to a supervisor or manager

its surprising how quick you can get a result with a bit af polite ruckass

it would be like goin to mc ds and them tellin you you cant have chips coz theres a risk of you having a heart attack
take my chip money insure my car . same dam thing ,product for a service,

insurance industary in this country is a joke

Called up for my renewal there today, went up from 666 to 740. All I had to say was "oh it's gone up from last year" and click click click "we can do it for 640 if that's any good?" thank you very much indeed because nobody else will quote me on the thing, never mind give me more money off!!

That is a very good price, But why did it go up to 740 from 666 in the first place?

    Chancing their arms probably.
I'd say a lot of people would just take it and say nothing.

Might not make any difference to people here:

But I just did a fake online quote and there was a €33 surcharge for changing the value of the car to under €2,000, even €1 under and it's added

It used to be €50 back in the Quinn days, It's only for new quotes, makes no difference to renewals if you tinker around on their site

They used to do the same a few years ago if you declared yourself as single regardless of age, I think that was €50 extra too

That's been dropped as a question, although chill still have it as a mandatory question
