I'v had my provisional since May 2011 and I want to go for the full license. Do I have to get the 12 driving lessons before taking the test or is it just a few lessons that are mandatory?

You must do the 12 EDT lessons. Anyone who got their first learner permit from 4th April 2011 onwards. Get a decent ADI and they can structure the EDT and pre-test lesson together.

Yes you need to complete the EDT Lessons and you cannot sit your test until you have the 12 EDT Lessons completed. You have had your licence more than 6 months so from that point of view you could apply for your test now if you complete a series of 12 EDT Lessons over a short space of time.

Damn really wasn't looking for that answer. It's a money making racket is what it is. Thanks for the replies.

Did you not take any lessons when you started?

Maybe need to bite the bullet. Fork out for the lessons, pass the test, get lower insurance???
Make sure you get someone to run EDT and pre-test lessons at the same time.
