I'm pretty excited that she has a new record out soon. The track on her site is really good and a departure from her last two records - which is a good thing imho.

But it got me thinking about the gig she played in Galway in the Roisin in 2000. She was promoting the Covers record at the time. As I recall it was a free mid-day gig and there was quite a bit of noise from punters there who hadn't a clue who she was. It was all very sad and she left after a quick run-through of her set - some of which was sublime. Disappointing but probably not a bad gig in relation to some of the other disasters she's had over the years.

Just wondering was there anyone else on here at that and what their recollection of it was.

Saw her in the Shepard's Bush Emipire after "The Greatest" album came out, great gig, good looking woman.

So, eh, no, not at that gig.

Saw her in Birgminham last tour. Great show. Recommended.

Would love to have been at that Roisin Dubh gig but wasn't unfortunately. I was living in Galway at the time too.

Looking forward to the new album and catching her live again.

There was some notorious gig at Whelan's, probably around the same time as that Roisin Dubh gig. I wasn't there, but apparently it was as uncomfortable as seeing someone have a nervous breakdown would be.

I saw her a couple of years later in Crawdaddy/The Pod/whatever the bigger venue is there around the time of The Greatest. She seemed happy and unbelievably confident, in comparison to reports of the Whelan's gig.

New song sounds great, though. Wasn't hugely pushed with the last covers album.

Yeah, I was at that gig. She had given up the booze at that stage.
