Can't see a thread on this yet. Santander have commissioned a circuit layout for a London Grand Prix and created a video of it being lapped.

Video with introduction from McLaren drivers can be found here

    Hitting objections already:
But green campaigners, business leaders and taxi drivers raised concerns about the plan, while Westminster Council, which would be responsible for the track, said it had not been consulted.

Motor sport insiders insisted it was little more than a pipe dream long-held by Mr Ecclestone. Experts pointed out that the route took in Admiralty Arch and that its three single-lane arches made it impossible for motor racing.

    ...

London Mayor Boris Johnson said he would need to be convinced of the economic case for the event, which comes amid trepidation over city-wide disruption during the Olympics. "I am broadly positive providing we can satisfy the air quality and noise issues," he said.

Backers claimed the event could net £100m for the London economy and be watched by 120,000 spectators. But Robert Davis, deputy leader of Westminster City Council, said the announcement had come out of the blue. "This is an event that would have obvious benefits to London in terms of finance and profile – but the council will wish to also put forward any concerns we receive from residents," he said.

Darren Johnson, London Assembly member for the Green Party, urged the Mayor to veto the "crazy" plan.

Funny that Bernie announced this the day after one of his business partners was sent down for bribery....

Green campaigners weren't consulted? Shock horror.

Surely the drop in traffic on the London streets for the weekend would more than offset the emissions from the race? :D And the emissions from the race would only be happening elsewhere anyway. :P

Oh but you know, those big evil race cars run by those big conglomerate teams will cause so much carbon that it will be so harmful to the environment. Nothing about the planes these campaigners take for their holidays though...

Quit spouting rubbish, everyone knows Al Gore's plane is fueled by his tears.

The archway looks plain dangerous for a F1 race. I don't see how they could realistically stop the centre of London for that many days, some pretty major streets in there.

No way they could put them through the Archway without a chicane before it and be prepared for plenty of red flags. :pac: In my limited experience of London there's a fair amount of streets that don't seem critical to traffic flow. On the other hand they're important in pedestrian terms so could affect business quite a lot. I'm no expert obviously :P

An inconvenient truth for sure :D

    Looks familiar...

    Exactly!

The only one I ever played was the original PGR (as I switched to Forza) and I thought the same, I seem to remember driving through that arch too (though it must be 8yrs or so since I played it)

Most of the PGR crew's either working at Turn 10 or Playground Games now, so they've been doing bits in Forza/Horizon that you might recognise.

Despite its arcadey-ness it was always great to hit Nurburgring or St. Petersburg after a downpour :pac:

Stay out of the Ariel Atom or any other "open-wheel" car if ya know there's rain.

Boris Johnson? He'd be well game for it, it's only being touted at this stage...it's not as if they're setting up the grandstands just yet. Besides, it puts F1 back in the news just talking about it

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that it was announced at roughly the same time that Gribowsky was jailed for the Bernie bribe ;)

Watching Cars 2 last night, can't help thinking that where they stole this idea from :D
