    Hi guys,

My car is due for a retest by Monday but mechanic is still waiting for a part to arrive so not sure I'll be able to book her in by tomorrow (and even if i can i'm not sure i'll be able to get a slot on such short notice)...it's costing me a fair bit to have her fixed up well enough to pass and I really don't want to go through an entire test again (or pay that cost).

So I'm just wondering if it's possible to extend the time past 30 days?

Also on another thread here relating to the nct someone seemed to be able to check out whether or not slots were available on specific dates by looking on the nct site...but i can't see that anywhere...does anyone know how i can check that?

Thanks for any help you can give me here folks!

Sorry, but no way around this... Had the same last time, you can give them a call and they will try to put you somewhere as early as they can, but if the time elapsed, you have to go through the whole test again ( and pay full price).

Ah feck...that's really gonna be a pain, I've to ring my mechanic again after lunch today to see where we stand on having her ready by Monday then I'm just gonna hope for a cancellation if there aren't any slots already available.

Does anyone know how to check for open slots on their site (as i mentioned above...i saw on another nct related thread that someone had been able to check)???

    Thanks again

You have to give them 5 week days notice, that means call on a Friday to cancel next friday, otherwise they will charge you the "no show".
    Half the normal fee.

Only way to book is over the phone when you see no availability.
But dont bother until your car is fixed and is on the road again.

Ring them and ask. They did sort me out a few weeks back although it was in slightly different circumstances.

    You may get lucky.
