Can anyone help me with a rough estimate for the following work, 5 series e39 -

To replace the two rear axle and wishbone bushes (inlcuding the costs of the parts)

To replace the two rear flexible brake pipes (including the cost of the parts)

To install a power steering pump (not including the purchase of the part that's seperate)

Full service i.e. spark plugs, filters, oil etc

    Thanks in advance

Best thing to do would to be call a few garages and get them to quote you for the work.

Cheers, I'll do that but wanted to see what any mechanics thought on boards.ie

id recommend getting a quote from Chelmsford motors in ranelagh, scullys in clontarf and bloomfield motors in dublin 8.

I replaced a number of rear bushes on my E39 last year and the parts were €280 from BMW, the hoses shouldn't be too expensive and you'd be looking at €2-300 on labour I think - assuming an independent.
Can't help on the power steering pump.
Service costs should be easy enough to get quotes on.

I think BMW charge 120 per hour plus VAT so should get it done much cheaper than this via an independent.

    Cheers

I did use an independent, there is a bit of work in changing the bushes.
The 280 was parts only from BMW.
My Indy recommended using genuine parts.

Valdas in Motor confidence in Ballycoolin is an excellent BMW indy and has great rep on bmw-driver.net. A quick google and you will find his number.

Depends on the parts. Many suspension parts can be acquired from the original manufacturer and would be 40-50% cheaper from people like OTTO.
100% the same part as the dealer.
Same for cooling parts. Look for Lemforder, Behr, Bosch, etc
Other parts like camshaft sensors etc should definitely be acquired from the dealer.
