Just looking for some advice on bibs.. i'm looking to get ones with the gel padding as i've been told this is far better...
I'm just looking for any suggestion on good brands, what I should expect to pay for a good pair and any suggestions where I can buy some online (preferably Irish).
All opinions will be greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks

the only decent shorts i own are santini
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=29164

(even my old club shorts are the same - unfortunately my new club ones arent santini and dont fit me :( )

then theres castelli, assos etc etc

plenty of threads if you use the search function
    http://www.boards.ie/search2/submit/?query=cycling+shorts

but they are a bit like saddles - very personal what suits someone wont suit you

My best pair are Santini with the "Git" pad if I recall correctly, cost about €90 last year. I have also got non gel Santini shorts (€70 ish) which are fine for medium distance, and Nalini (€40 sale price) which are a bit light on padding so a comfortable saddle is needed for anything over 50KM. I also use DHB bib shorts and longs, these are good value for money (€45) but you would need a good few KM's in the saddle before you would call them comfortable, I wouldnt tend to use them off season when my rear end is not "saddle hard" I have a pair of Assos T FI.Uno_S5 Bib Shorts in the post. I am looking forward to trying these out as they are supposed to be the Rolls Royce standard in bike wear (€130) I buy most of my gear online from Wiggle or Chain Reaction Cycles. I usually cross check the price with Wheelworx in Lucan and if they are close I buy local.

Yep, I bought the bottom of the range (pun intended) I am slowly working my way up to spending what we used to call "a weeks wages" on a pair of shorts:eek:
