I'm not the longest hitter out there. The course I play on is pretty long too which doesn't help me. The past few weeks I've been playing with guys who are consistently 20 yards longer than me off the tee which gets frustrating after awhile as I'm mid-30s and in decent shape. I played with a guy a few weeks ago playing off 15 who hit his 4 iron 5-10 yards shorter than my driver!

The issue stems from a build-in slice that forces me to swing pretty easily to maintain accuracy. I get commented regularly about my smooth swing and it does help me with my irons but I just lose too much distance off the tee.

Anyway, last year I got fitted for a driver and got the adjustable Titleist 910 D2 and it's being going pretty well, however I still have to swing easy to avoid the dreaded slice. So I'm there during the week and I have a brain wave (obvious really)...get out the manual and check my current configuration...there it was...set to neutral. Out comes the yokie and I set it up for "more draw". Down to the course that evening and for the 7 holes I played I was absolutely belting it off the tee and apart from one drive went just off the fairway the rest were on the short stuff and anywhere between 10-20 yards longer.

With this config I know that if I hit it easy I'll actually hook the ball so best off to belt it (not to the point of falling over, but just hit it hard).

To say I'm buzzing is an understatement....roll on the weekend :D

Would you consider getting a lesson so you can hit all your clubs straight(er) and get more distance & accuracy from them all?

    That's a fair point :o - maybe I'll bend them all a tad shut :P

I know ur joking but that sorta stuff is only a short term fix, if you start purposely closing the face ur miss will soon start to be a nasty hook. No surefit setting is gonna fix a swing fault, i tried trust me :)

Its in your best interest to get a few pointers on grip alignment and swing plane, i had a nasty slice all last year starting off and it wrecked my head and ruined my confidence off the tee, this has been sorted and confidence is the main thing with this sport

I'm happy enough with my 3w, rescue and irons...if anything I hook my irons if I hit them too hard. Hopefully this config change on the driver will do the job..
