I can't imagine any way that could be answered without knowing the vehicle information and what exactly is broken or damaged.

Either that or he's the guy that sold the springs.

Just saw this for the first time since my post.

Unbelievable accuracy. Whoever would have thought I was just spoofing?

is it difficult to replace the rear coil spring on an 00 VW Bora.
would hate to be paying a garage if me and a mate can do it for free.

Its not a difficult job garage would charge 1 hour to do them. Can you do them yourself? It really depends on your mechanical skills and tools available to you. With a decent socket set, good jack and some axle stands you ll have no problem once your reasonably handy

I would be thinking a spring compression tool is needed also if the previous poster is taking the shock out of damaged spring and popping it into new one

In general not needed for rear springs if separate spring and shock

I was just pricing front coil springs for my Saab 9-3 1.9tid. I had a look on ebay UK and a KYB front spring was £20 inc. postage. I then had a look on Mick's Garage and the same spring was €64. Like that's just insane!

Every time I check out Irish prices and they can be x3 times the price. How can you support Irish at this carry-on?

Anyway my mechanic says there circa €100 a pair in the motor factors and he has already ordered them. I bet there the same KYB ones for half that on ebay. I wouldn't mind if they were a superior make.

tell you mechanic unordered them . he will probably get them in motor factors for 50 and then charged you 100 for the part:eek:

I hope you never go into business so.

Obviously the mechanic will buy them at the trade price and obviously he will charge the customer the RRP of the part or a good percentage of it at least....its how every trade and every retail business for that matter works.
