21, looked to be ripe to be the top northern jockey for a while.

    Sad loss.

    21.

    RIP

I see Paddy Brennan and AP McCoy have confirmed it on twitter.
Reports that he died in Greece while on holiday.

    A sad day.

National Hunt jockey Campbell Gillies has died while on holiday.

The 21-year-old, who had been in action at Hexham as recently as Sunday, flew out to the Kavos in Corfu where he was involved in an accident.

Tributes have been flooding in on Twitter, with weighing-room colleague Alexander Voy one of many to express their sadness.

He said: "I can't believe it. You only have one best friend and now he's gone. I'll never forget you @campbellgillies, love you pal xxx."

Gillies rode 131 winners under rules in Britain, with over 50 of those coming for the Lucinda Russell yard. He rode 38 winners last season, with a highlight being the victory of Brindisi Breeze in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

RIP. Hard to believe that both the horse and jockey are gone.

Very unfortunate and sad. Condolences to the family and friends. I didn't believe it when i saw it first. Always remember him on Lie Forrit's rise through the ranks.

Very sad. I cheered Campbell and Brindisi Breeze all the way up the hill only a few months ago and to think they are both now dead in tragic circumstances. A big blow for Lucinda Russell too.

Extremely shocked and saddened by the news this morning. Absolutely tragic for someone so young. RIP Campbell

Wow, that's pretty shocking. Thought at first it might have been an older version of him, i.e., grandfather or something.

    RIP.

Here's a nice picture of him with Brindizi Breeze 5 days or so after the Cheltenham victory.

Tragic to think they're both gone now a few months later.
