    Hi,

My apple macbook pro looks like it's on its last legs. So I'm going to have to buy a new laptop fairly soon.

There's no way I'll buy another apple. They might look pretty, but they're overpriced Imo

I'd be looking to get something with as good a screen as my apple. And something with a fast start up as well.

I was looking online (via my phone) and was leaning towards an Asus zenbook.

Is there anywhere in Dublin that has these on display? I don't mind buying online but would like to have a look at some laptops first.

    Thanks in advance

If you're interested in that I may suggest you look at this, from Samsung so there may be a few about for viewing.... and may i suggest that you buy it where you see it locally if not hugely more expensive than online. Keep jobs & services local ;)

A wee bit small for my liking. Even a 13 inch screen seems uber tiny but I'm willing to drop to that

Regarding buying locally. Thats always my first preference. Within reason anyway ;-)

Ouch, I had only read American reviews earlier so I didn't know the price. That's a bit hefty isn't it

    What's your budget?

BTW Stay well away from mainstream retailers, unless you have money to throw away.

The above comments are very valid points so keep your purchase local as said, in case of repairs. Also when thinking of purchasing a good laptop think of upgradability, memory-ram/ graphics card/ processor if it's going to be an expensive one you purchase. I could never understand the buzz of buying a macbook pro as the ram is soldered to the mobo and the rest of the laptop is glued together even the battery, maybe thats why macbooks are so expensive because of the amount of glue used to seal everything and stop you from manually fixing or up-grading anything.

    I suppose in and around a 1000 /1200

It will only be for Internet browsing and doing the odd bit of excel work. I'm not into gaming and don't watch movies on my laptop (I have a tv for that :-P).

Once the screen is good though. I know I won't be watching movies on it, but it's one thing I couldn't fault the apple with, it's screen resolution was immense.

I've no real interest in upgrading memory. I don't download movies or music. So ill never use it up

    Any suggestions?

There's a fair few from Samsung that have really good screens, if that's something you're gonna use as a basis for comparison.

You could give the refreshed XPS 15 a go. The previous gen XPS 15s' beat the previous gen MBP's upgraded screen in quality and resolution. If they're using the same screen as before (you could call to ask) then get the 1080p upgrade. Cheaper as compared to the Retina display MBP's xD
