Wait wait... am I forgetting something here. Bill, Pam and Eric met each other in 1905 and this is the first we've heard about it?! That can't be right!

And wasn't Bill made during the American Civil War (or just after it)
They tell Eric he's just a new vampire in that scene, but he was decades old.

Also Eric in the first few episodes was as blood thirsty and hedonistic as they come, his 1905 persona completely doesn't fit with that.

    so basically wtf?!?

which is basically a new vampire..compared to Eric who's over 1000 years old Bill's only a young lad :)

The scene where Jessica bursts out of the dressing room and says "you smell so good..":

I completely forgot that this series was back so I caught up on all the new episodes last night. Overall reaction is decidedly 'meh'. Anna Paquin seems to get more and more annoying as this series goes on. She's really not a good actress.

    Good:

Enjoyed seeing a bit of Pam's backstory (but the inclusion of Bill and Lorena was ridiculous.)

Curious to see where the Terry storyline is going. Himself and Arlene should get more screentime.

The Jessica "you smell so good" bit will be obvious for those who have read the books.

    Bad:

Tara...no. Just no. I genuinely thought that character couldn't be any more irritating but there she is. Pam is obviously going to save her from the tanning bed and so prolong the ridiculousness.

Jason..does anyone care? Really? So Jason shags his former teacher, the first person he slept with and suddenly he has this giant epiphany that he's been using sex all his life to fill a hole (ba dum tish!)

While I like Christopher Meloni, I'm really not enjoying this Authority storyline. Also, I hated that kid from Waterworld so hopefully she won't be in it too much! :P

You think the guy was a fairy? We know Andy had a random visit from one and their blood is very desirable to vamps. Could also explain his many sisters.

Has to be a fairy. I reckon he's

I had to look it up myself as it was confusing, but here it goes:

Eric was born ~900AD and was turned ~930AD, making him currently 1,082 years old as a vampire or 2,012 years old totally.
Bill was born in 1835 and was turned in 1865, making him currently 147 years old as a vampire or 177 years old totally.
Pam was born in 1871 and was turned in 1905 (when she meets Bill during that scene), making her currently 107 years old as a vampire or 141 years old totally.

It means that during that scene Bill had been a vampire for 40 years whereas Eric was 975 years a vampire.

Its just not grabbing me this season.

The Authority storyline is boring. I found myself totally switching off during any of those scenes - compared to the first season when the sex scenes were genuinely almost pornographic - they are rubbish now.

Sookie - just seems to be running about doing nothing.

Tara - please just give her the true death.

Alcide - is wearing too much this season, get your clothes off or dont bother appearing on screen.

Jason - funnily enough Im enjoying Jason even though his storyline is pants. I think Im just enjoying the eye candy.

I do like Steve Newlin and Im glad he has been vamped - I hope they utilise him well because he has great on screen presence.

Terry - I want to see where this is going and wish they would give us more screen time with him and Arlene.

Im a bit sick of Jessica as well, I preferred her when she was a new vampire tbh.

The Eric/Pam backstory is awful. And including Bill and Lorena in it is the pits.

Im just not as gone on it as I used to be though.

She still is a new vampire though... I think that's part of the issue that will arise sooner rather than later. Jessica thinks of Bill as her father and her father is the King of Louisiana. She's thinking like a human and hanging out with humans - I think she's in for a shock to come. I think the issue with Bill in 1905 being put in his place and the references they keep making to the maker's job being very important is not such a subtle foreshadowing of some issues we will have with Bill/Jessica and Pam/Tara.

Again Pam wins the episode: "Oh you stupid b1tch". A meta-comment on Tara if ever there was one.

He is - it says it in the credits... Which was annoying.

He was in S04E01 already (albeit a different actor), we know he is a fairy... we just don't know it's
    Claude
. He's the one that made Sookie jump throught the portal after she didn't eat the funky fruit.

Yeah, she is still new in vampire terms, but in human viewer terms, she was more fun when she was all over the place and didnt know what was going on.

Bit of a lack of new characters so far this season, Terrys friend but he isnt appearing much, and now the guy who smells nice - hopefully he will appear more.

Plenty of new people in the Authority storyline, Erics sister etc.. but that whole storyline just bores me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 403 ✭✭suomi

Well that was... meh. Nothing really happened. Pam's flashbacks seem like they couldn't come up with anything else to fill up the episodes. And Sookie is getting very annoying, and so is Jessica. And Lafayette. Meh.

Woah, hold on, the back story with Pam, Eric and Bill just shows how duplicitous Bill can be. Now we see that he lied all the way through season 1.
That or they make it up as they go along :P

Didn't really read the credits. Just looked at them to confirm it was Tina Majorino that put the "training bra" on Bill and Eric. Liked her in Napoleon Dynamite and Veronica Mars

I'm still intrigued by the whole Vampire lore and history aspect of the show, but other than that, it seems to be flat lining.

I don't care about Tara, never did, never will (not even Pam can change this).

I couldn't give a rats ass about Sookie, Lafayette, Jessica, Sam, Arlene and Terry anymore....though Andy is still entertaining. Alcide is still interesting depending on where the character goes from here.

If only we could forget about all of these characters and just focus on the Authority and Bill/Eric hunting Russell.

I really hope they guy that smelled good isnt
    Claude
He didnt look anywhere near attractive or tall enough. Well, not compared to the image I created from reading the books.

I really wish they would incorporate some of the more interesting characters, like Quinn and Bubba! :D

Although I dont think this season needs any new characters, they cant seem to cope with all the plots they have without adding more.

Just get Russell back on top form and have him rip more peoples hearts out on TV, then I'd be happy.

How did he lie though? Maybe I missed something, because I thought we've seen the whole Bill and Lorena storyline before, where they go around killing people. Or is that not what's been happening? :o

Hang on, when did Pam become and lesbian and when and why did she learn Swedish?
I'm actually impressed that they have managed to make Tara even more annoying as a vampire. It just did not seem possible but they've done it.

When was Pam shown as a lesbian? Perfectly possible anyway I suppose, vampires being over-sexed as they are.

So stupid to have Sookie wandering around all doe-eyed when they know Russell is free, not liking this season at all, the Shifter/Wolf storyline is so boring.

Just found this funny. I do wonder what it would be like

Pam has always just been sexual, I thought. She's bi, not a lesbian.

As for the Swedish, her maker was a viking. Pretty self-explanatory, no?

This week was pretty boring IMO. Still waiting for anything happen.

this franchise, in the right hands, could have made for an amazing television show.

since season 2, its been all over the place, many pointless storylines & characters.

    very dissapointed!

how many more seasons could there be in the pipeline after 6?

    not that many surely.

to be honest, even if we had an great season 6/7 (highly unlikely given their track record), it cant make up for seasons 2-4 (and possibly even 5)

like what was the deal with the fairy strip club?

and the flashbacks to the iraqi war? i started watching the show for VAMPIRES.

if i wanted to watch an american war film, id put one on. complete drivel!

    get your act together HBO!

I think Ive come to the end of the True Blood road. I just drifted off too many times in that episode. Its no longer holding my interest. Shame cos I used to love it.

Yeah, I must have got the wrong end of the stick at some stage. I could have sworn she was just plain old gay. There's no reason she would have learned Swedish that I can see. She didn't live there and Eric speaks to her in English.
