    Hi guys

I got a puncture this morning and could not loosen the wheel nuts on the car as the Peugeot one that was provided kept slipping and didnt seem to grasp the nut correctly so I had to leave the car at the side of the road.

I'm going to Halfords in a bit before getting a lift back to my car to purchase a socket wrench and some of that Tyre Weld stuff.

What size socket will I need? I couldnt find it on Google.

Anyone know if the tyre weld will fix a hole in the side of the tyre?

    Its a 2005 4 door 1.6D

Not sure about the wheel nut but you can't repair a tyre if the hole is in the wall/ side of the tyre.

one of the wheel nuts is usually a special, an adapter is either with the spare or in the glove box

I have that nut but the wheel wrench does not grip the nuts so I need to know the size to buy one.

did you try turning it, it's not symmetrical and only fits that one nut in a certain position the other nuts don't need the adapter

I could only loosen one nut, the others kept slipping due to the wheel wrench.

did you try the others without the small adapter?

If you could loosen one, then it must be the right size. Was it too loose to grip the nut, or was the wrench slipping off the nut when you tried to put pressure on nut?

Also, any chance that there is a cover on the nut?

The wrench was slipping off the nut, too much give in it when pressure applied. No i removed the covers. I've changed wheels before., I reckon its the wrench as it doesnt go far enough over the nut to get a good grip. Just got lucky with one as it must have been as tight.

I had a dream once where all cars were supplied with a pulling bar and sockets rather than Mickey mouse toy tools.

You need a 17mm socket if you have alloys.
I think the steel wheels have 17mm nut also...Also if you have alloys then
you may need a specific locknut socket.

    Its alloys alright.

Would you think that this would do the job?

Yep...I use one of these myself..:)
it should come with a two sided socket which should have 17mm on one side and 19mm on the other.

Bought a decent drive and 17mm deep socket and got all the nuts off bar one. A fu*king lock nut which the garage I bought the car off did not provide. Had to get the car transported to my local garage where they are getting off the locking nuts now from each alloy.

The garage that sold the car were not all that helpful as in saying that " the nut would have been left back where the mechanic had it" as i got them to change the brake pads shortly after I bought the car. I'll be asking them to pay my bill.
