    Hi

Have a sky+ HD box - 2 years old. Select button on remote now has to be pressed really hard to work. Knackered or repairable?

    Thanks ,

    Atticus.

Did you try replacing the batteries?

No, didn't think that might be an issue as all the other buttons work perfectly, it's just the Select button that needs the force of an elephant to activate. Would battery change help in this case?

Probably not but try it and see. Luckily replacement sky remotes are cheap and easy to come by.

That's odd. I have exact same issue with a Sky+ HD remote - the select button not working and all other buttons working fine. It started happening over the past few days.

They were nearly half that in Tesco iirc.
Wouldn't bother trying to repair one. If you got sky in the last year a new one may be free but you might have to wait a few days on delivery.

Aldi are selling them at the moment. Sky branded. €20+ - Can't remember exactly

its more than likely its dirt/gunk thats stopping it from working.

Try taking the rubber buttons out and see if there is much gunk around the select button.

I just washed the rubber buttons and all was fine again on an old remote i had.

How do you go about taking the buttons out? I actually tried yanking the select button out but didn't want to pull at it too much for risk of killing it altogether. Is there a knack to it?

Thanks for the replies so far. Boards is great. http://b-static.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/smile.gif
