    Hi All
    My 02 Renault Megane began shaking over the last few weeks but since yesterdy the shake has become violent and now a little light is after turning on on the dash - looked it up and it was about monitoring exhaust gass

    ANY help would be grea - can I still drive this until next weekend or will it need fixing straight away??

    Help please - Kaz88:confused::confused::confused:

    Shaking when at speed?
    Shaking when idle?
    Shaking when high revs?

    Could be 1 or more of the ignition pencil coils need replacing?
    Check coils and make sure that you use Renault own brand spark plugs
    To diagnose the coils - when the fault occurs, pop the bonnet with the engine running in faulty mode, then disconnect the leads that are attached to the coils one at a time. When you disconnect the faulty coil there is no change to the engine but when you disconnect the good coil the engine will splutter or die. I hope that's not too confusing - It's almost reverse logic.
    I'm not a mechanic and you do this at your own risk.

    Probably one, or two of the coils. You better check sparkplugs to., just in case.

    Its the engine that's shaking? Or the car shaking when you drive?

    The light on the dash is presumably the engine management light so, as said above, the normal megane failing coils are likely. This is presuming that its a petrol though.

    Hey
    Yes it is the petrol model so im guessing it is these coils I will try find a garage tomorrow to replace them so!
    Thanks everyone for your help!!
    Cars-tis all money

    One last question-is it ok to drive these short distances eg 8-10 miles will try find a garage near work that way??

    You may get away with driving it around a bit, but the more you drive it the more damage to other components your doing.
