Ric Flair vs Vader, WCW Starrcade, 1993.
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker, WWE WM26, 2010.

I'm a big fan of overarching story being played out over the course of a match, as you can probably tell.

Been watching it since about 92/93, but I'd honestly have to give the last Taker vs HHH as being the single greatest match ever.

It was great to see them both putting out their very best, especially considering how dull the WWE has become in recent years.

When rating matches do you take into account the whole spectacle as it were or just the match itself, from bell to bell? I thought Punk/Cena at MITB was just an OK match, obviously made great by the ending with Del Rio attempt to cash in and Punk running into the crowd. And of course the crowd itself enhanced everything it was so hot.

I would think it would include the whole thing not just bell to bell, because some of the spectacle makes the match more complete. For me the Cena/Punk match was brilliant, the last 5 minutes had me gripped and when Punk kicked out of the AA, I popped out loud, first time in years! And the same when he hit the gts for the win.

But even better than that was the build up to the match, the idea of Punks contract was expiring and if he won he was leaving his hometown with the title. that to me is what made the match a 10/10.

Rock -v- Austin WM17 -The biggest stars of all time, at their absolute peak. Heel turn subtracts from it somewhat, such was the disappointment and anger I remember feeling.

HHH -v- Undertaker WM28 - Incredible storytelling all the way through and a fitting end (hopefully) to the three guys involvement with each other at WM.

Michaels -v- Undertaker WM25 - The start of the excellent Undertaker series at WM, jaw dropping the first time I watched it. I would give this 100 out of ten if I could. For me, the perfect wrestling match. Best ever.

Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman -v- The Dudleys ONS2005 - Pure, insane entertainment. Rabid crowd, crazy blade jobs, tables on fire, cheese graters, interference, and a stone cold beer bash at the end. From the Sandmans incredible entrance, to the final stunner on Bischoff this match is an overbooked mess, that somehow becomes the perfect storm.

If I had to sit down and watch a match, with friends that dont appreciate the nuances of wrestling, and just want to be entertained, this would be the match.

WrestleMania 17 - Edge & Christian vs. The Dudleys vs. The Hardys - TLC

King of the Ring (1998) Undertaker vs. Mankind - Hell in a cell

WrestleMania X - Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart

Summerslam 1994 - Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart - Steel Cage match

WrestleMania XIII - Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin

ECW ONS - John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam

There's loads more I will think off...

I think the match between Michaels and Jericho at Wrestlemania 19 is a very underrated match. In fact, I think it's flawless.

I'm with Eire-Dearg on that one. I believe that's a very overrated match. Maybe the most overrated. It's sensational from a crowd interaction POV but I think from a wrestling POV it's not all that great. I think Punk said as much in an interview he gave. Basically said there were some spots he wasn't happy about. If we're talking Cena's best, for me that was the near hour long match in London against Michaels. Not sure if it was a 10/10 but it was the best I've seen from Cena.

i felt the same way about Cena/Punk. MITB last year just wasn't a good show and that match wasn't enough to save it. i honestly thought his match on Raw against Rey Mysterio two weeks later was much better. but i did love the energy in the arena and the emotion when Punk won

That was a great match, and I am very much a non-supporter of Shawn Michaels.

what??? mitb last year was one of the best ppvs in wwe history, universally praised by everyone in the business, walked "best major show" on the observer in 2011, 86% of people on this site gave it a 9 or 10 out of 10 http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=19563

maybe not quite 10/10, but a very underrated match IMO is Cena-HHH at WM 22.

i still remember the shot of the crowd after the tap-out. pure shock.

Not so much for the match itself, but for the ending. HHH vs Michaels vs Benoit Wrestlemania XX.

Seeing Eddie come out after the match to be with Benoit in the ring was one of my favourite moments in WWE.

Wow, Joey Styles comments after Awesome jumps over the ropes seem horrendously out of place given what happened a few years later. Takes away from the match a bit imo

I may get slated for this but RVD vs Chris Benoit at summerslam 02' was a near 10/10 match for me.

Most of them have been mentioned but one for me which hasn't is Americas Most Wanted VS Triple X at Turning Point 2004:eek:. One of my genuine HOLY SH*T moments in wrestling.

Briscoes Vs Aries & Strong (ROH Liverpool)
Samoa Joe Vs CM Punk II
    Angle Vs Benoit (Rumble 2003)
HHH Vs HBK last man standing, possible Rumble 2003 as well?
Jericho Vs Rock No Mercy 2001
KENTA Vs Marufuji - their 2006 effort - though all their matches are 100%
