need help with fixing my IT Band injury

    Dear All,

I'm not looking for medical advice or diagnosis, as this is currently being explored.

I recently developed a fairly unpleasant IT Band strain, my hip is also extremely sore - all the internal muscles are pulling and are in spasm, and I have pains below my knee, and now it's like a constant major shin splint pain. This came on after doing exercises I was given by a physio to correct a left right imbalance. It has gotten so bad now that I can hardly walk (especially the shin splints), so I went to GP and went for an MRI, results will become available next week.
So am very reluctant to go back to same physio - last time I went he said, you just got to keep doing your exercises, so I have a serious trust issue there now. He kept telling me I need to take control, and I get all that, but right now I don't feel in control, I am in serious pain and I don't know where to turn or what to do next to fix myself. All I know is I need support from someone who knows what they're doing.

So I need to go and see a really good physiotherapist, who has a good knowledge of this type of injury - and this is not due to trauma or extreme sports, so I need to find someone who really wants to try and help me find out what is causing my problems. Someone recommended Eileen Murphy from the Heytesbury clinic - while I was browsing that webpage I also read about Richard Shortall, who sounds just like the kind of guy I might need. But after my bad experience with the last physio, I would love to get some feedback (via pm of course) on either of them, if someone has used them, or if anyone has had similar problems and managed to fix them, I would also love to hear.
    Many thanks!
