Mtself and GF planning a 2.5 week holiday for April 2013, thinking of going to Thailand but are worried it will be too hot and humid there in April- thinking of 3/4 days in Bangkok, 6 days in Krabi and 4/5 days in Phi Phi. Anyone been there in April - is the temperaure and humidity manageable? don't want to spend all the time ducking in and out of the shade :)

    Thanks.

April is the hottest time of year in thailand, serious heat and humidity but a great time of year to visit with the songkran festival(thai new year).

But if the heat isnt your thing maybe it might not be the best time to go as it will hit over 40 everyday and you will sweat buckets.

I was in Thailand for most of April and I found the heat pleasant, OK I was sweating, just drink lots of fluids and it will be fine. Songkran is fun but after the 3rd day it gets stale and getting drenched wet each day quickly loses its fun side.

The farangs who partake in Songkran with such gusto like overgrown children are actually the worst and with the drinking and ensuing chaos many people might not like it. Pattaya for 1 or 2 days to experience the Songkran madness might be an idea but it is a sleazy town. Bangkok and the rural provinces offers a more traditional Thai new year.
