Our family holiday is to the south of france this year, so going to hire a car.
Anyone know what is the story with breathalysers and hi-viz vests in hire cars or is that just for driving your own car?

I hired a car in France last month and it came complete with hi-viz jacket and warning triangle! ....and I needed it:)

I'd imagine that reputable hire companies make sure their cars are 'legal' in this regard
AFAIK the car should have spare set of bulbs also. The driver of the car if he wears glasses for driving is legally required to have a spare set too

+1 Not sure if the hire companies will supply the breathalyzers, it's a new (2012) rule but I hired a car in 2010 and there was a hi-viz jacket in the cab where by law it must be stored i.e. not in the boot.

You're probably flying there, I know that Irish Ferries have said that they will sell the breathalyzers on the Oscar Wilde ferry that sails from Rosslare to France.
