    Hey all,

I'm hoping a representative can get back to me. I've been onto support and all they keep telling me is they don't know.

I'm in Tramore and the only service available is Digital+ TV over MMDS. This is unsatisfying as I cannot avail of the onDemand television nor broadband phone etc...

I know that nearly the whole population of Tramore would switch to UPC broadband and telephone if it came avaiable.

Just wondering if a rep can reply soon. I see all these television adverts yet cannot avail of any. :(

If there's no physical cable network in Tramore, which I'm pretty sure there isn't, there never will be.

It would be too difficult to construct, (ie: wayleave on private property) and way too costly to construct, even if they agreed with your assumption that everyone would take up the service.

Cable networks are built up over decades, and most started with overhead networks in the early 70's in areas that found it hard to receive terrestrial reception, so wayleave was easy.
They require massive capital expenditure, particularily on civil works, and result in lengthy returns on investment.

Yeah pretty true alright, but the onDemand, I still dont see how we need cable for that, I'm positive it could be brought through MMDS, just like sky brings their services through the dish, and of course satellite broadband with telephone like DigiWeb etc do..

I'm not familiar with the characteristics of MMDS but it doesnt deliver broadband.
The onDemand service from UPC will be delivered to a customers Set Top Box via broadband connectivity.
Likewise, Sky deliver their one way TV service over satellite, but their new Sky Now product will require a broadband connection.

Ah I get it now, Thanks! I'm great with cables but not when it comes to the characteristics of MMDS, I only know how to connect it :D

    Thanks for clearing that up!
