Which bike?

    Usual question here folks, which of these two would you prefer ...my first road bike, these are the leading contenders at the moment:

    This Boardman from Halfords


    or a Strada 1000

    The Strada is approx €1,100 in Worldwide Cycles.

    The Bike mechanic in Halfords (Kilkenny) seems very knowledgeable so I don't have any qualms about buying from him.

    Marginally better spec on the boardman from what i can see

    That is a very good price for a Bricks and Mortar shop for a bike with the spec of the Boardman. You'd get the same spec online in Rosebikes or Canyon, but not in a B&M.

    I'd say it's head and shoulders above the Strada in spec and design - e.g 105 drivetrain, wheels and tapered headtube. I think the tyres are at the lower end though so you might want to budget something there for an upgrade.
