The teaser is out for the Monster's Inc. prequel:

I think it looks ok, not sure how I feel about it really, too early to pass judgement yet anyway. I loved the original though. Looks like they're going for a straight up college campus teen movie premise, could be interesting to see what Pixar do with it. Seems they're in a bit of a rough patch of sorts at the moment what with Cars 2 not turning out so good and Brave getting mixed reviews so far. Still, they're well able to do a sequel properly as Toy Story 2 & 3 showed, so here's hoping!

It looks a lot more childish.

Monsters Inc is one of my favourite Pixar films, I was hoping they'd just leave it untouched.

Why don't Pixar just make a sequel that people want? *cough* The Incredibles *cough*

I actually quite like the idea of this. I also like the idea of a Monsters Inc sequel. Great concept, great cast etc. Its a far better idea then Cars which I dont understand at all. The only pixar movie to get under the 90 percentile on Rotten Tomatoes and thats the one they decide to give a sequel to... (Besides Toy Story of course)

Cars taps into the American NASCAR obsession and in terms of merchandising, does a fortune. Our little fella has loads of Cars stuff and it seems to be very popular with other little boys his age or younger too. While the Cars franchise might not get as much critical acclaim as the likes of Monsters Inc. I'd lay down good money that it's far more profitable...

Bar Toy Story (though I could be wrong on that too) Cars is Pixar's most profitable franchise in terms of merchandise by far. Looks Like Brave is coming in below 90% too, but near 80 so not too bad in fairness!

I actually like the first Cars (still not watched the 2nd), its a great little film about the death of the small town in modern times. It gets criticised for not being as smart as other pixar movies but I think its themes are easily just as worthy as many of the others. There's a whole thread on here somewhere called In Defence of Cars if you give it a search :)

People are forgetting the biggest inherent problem with a Monster's Inc. prequel:

    No Boo.

It'll need another serious emotional or narrative hook.
