I've never saved a penny in my life, for anything. I'm in my late twenties and make over 50k per year and still am not able to save. Is this ridiculous? I'm sure it is. What do people normally save per month? I came from the Celtic tiger era of if you wanted something you borrowed for it. I do have some debts...maybe 10k but surely I should be able to save money. I spend way too much on booze and going out

you answered your own question there in terms of spending too much on booze and going out. Credit union is a good place to save. Go in (physically) once a week with 50 euro and leave itn there. When your wages come through have a standing order for 100 a week or 500 a month going in to a seperate savings account. Look around for the best return on your savings. It is pretty easy and if youre on 50 g's a year 150 a week saved is more than affordable. Every now and again when your wage builds up in your account withdraW a few quid and fire it in to either the credit union or the savings account.

Nothing to do with Retro. I'd move this thread to somewhere more suitable OP if I weren't on my phone so I will close it for the moment.

Maybe this is a retro reality for him (ie he was in his 20s and earning 50k p/a)? Now he's in his 30s and 'earning' about 180 p/w.
