Anyone else having issues with contract negotiations? No matter what I offer, it seems that not a single negotiation will get completed unless I agree to almost exactly what's asked for first time around. That even goes for kids I'm giving their first pro contract to. Only noticed it lately, so I'm wondering if it's because I have a pretty large pot of money available this season. But whatever the reason, it's doing my head in.

Just posted the exact same thing in the demented thread before reading this. Tried to pick up Mark Keane after he was released by Man Utd and he was demanding 8k per week to be a hot prospect, yet he signs for some League 2 team on 900 a week.

Lads, Quick tip on contract negociations , say a player is asking for 40k a week , you drop to 30k and he says 40 , offer him the 30k again and lock it (Ie that's all you will pay as basic) add in a couple of additions to sweeten the deal to make it up in performance based bonuses and he will will accept.

I've also found incentives work for players with high determinations , set them a target of divional team of the year bonus or 20 goals and watch how they improve.

I tried that and all of a sudden they want an annual increase of 20% instead of 10% and a loyalty bonus bigger than the club will pay, so either way I'd end up paying as much. Must try that with the seasonal incentives though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Irishcrx

Yeah, can depend on the agent as well , you can also try giving the agent a higher fee as a one off and lowering the players salary , can make them more likely to agree.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,369 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

    Never thought of that.

It breaks my heart to pay the agents, I always try to reduce their fee.

I had Ramsey from Arsenal force his way out. 2 years left on his contract and with Utd and Chelsea sniffing around he demands to go. I convince him to stay by telling him we would win the league within 2 seasons.

He would only accept a contract with a €16.5m release fee (Utd were reported to be willng to spend €35m on him) so I decided to wait a season. I finished second and offered him new contract. Again would only agree with a €16.5m release fee.

Rather than let him for go on a free in a season or €16.5m release, I offered him to clubs. Utd paid €42m for him.

I felt just like Arsene Wenger.

    A cheeky €60m. Barca offered €40m and Utd €42m.

for the sake of an extra 2 million would you not be better to sell to barca?

keep him out of the league

Yep, I agree but my Director of Football didnt. It was the first big player that I offered to clubs and to be honest I didnt realise he would step in and do it.

Im still trying out the DOF option. Not to keen on it so far. He hasnt managed to get one player Ive asked him to, including young prospects for the team.

Anyone think it is a good option?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,163 ✭✭✭✭danniemcq

I think i have him only for youth, i handle all big transfers and first team players

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,127 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

DoF is handy to clear out players you don't want/need. Especially the ones that nobody seems to want either.

I have a little tip for you if you really want that extremely hot prospect desperately.
The DOF is useless really for incomings so forget him.
Make your usual "Approach to sign" effort.
    Offer him an acceptable offer.
If he asks for 5k per week with 15% annual increase, offer 6k at 10%.
Once he accepts your offer he may still choose to sign a pro contract for his club over your offer.
The way to evade that is to now leave him think about your offer till the next day, then go to "change contract offer" & offer 7:5k per week still at 10% maybe with an extra 200 appearance fee & he should accept immediately after your next "continue" click.
I know its not ideal to have to pay extra but this almost guarantees you don't miss out.
The acceptance should be immediate, if not, offer more straight away again.
Can only do this with one player at a time though so be careful if you want 2 or 3 more to not let negotiations drag too long with the first guy or you'll miss the others possibly.
Try it & let me know.
Doing this on regen dates ie March 13 for England is your best bet for this to work.
I usually end up with 25 to 30 top prospects per season from this.
They all are at least 3* potential according to my 20 - 20 scouts.
Set them to scout the big nations constantly so their scout graph is constantly full.
Then it only takes them a day to find the best players on regen dates.
March is the main month for European wonderkids.
A list of dates can be found if you Google search.
    Have fun...

Is it possible for an injury to lower stats and ability of a player?

I had an AMC who was destroying other teams, and talked up for the Golden Boot. Then he gets a 4 month injury and when he comes back, the Backroom Advice team are telling me to lower his role to "No Longer Needed" and his current ability is down from 4 stars to 2 :(

Sometimes there stats fall a small bit. get him back to full fitness and he shd be jsut as good. Unless hes getting on of course.

Only 22, and worth 20m Euro at the moment. He was worth 27m before the injury. Hopefully it all comes back :P

at 22 he still has time to regain stats lost. Wouldn't worry about it, just get him to full fitness again and with game time he will hopefully be the player he was before the injury.

If not, bring him out back and shoot him.

I have had two players decimated by injury with noticeable decreases in stats. Both were worth 3-4 million and I ended up releasing them both on a free.

Have had it happen to me too, I kinda like it, feels kinda realistic, certain injuries do have very negative long term implications for players

A player's stats will typically lower during a long injury but then recover given time. The big worry is if, on his return to full training, your physios tell you that his potential has been reduced as the result of an injury

I once paid €15m for a great young German MC (admittedly he was overpriced but I had the cash) only for a bad leg break to wipe out his first season and he never recovered. Was sold for €2m a few years later

in my 2012 FM Messi missed the best part of two years with a cruciate and then a broken ankle. His contract expired, and he now plays with Aston Villa!

Did win the English Player of the Year a season later though I believe.

So I just hit year 9 in my Spurs game, and feel I'm in need of a new challange.

Wanted to start from the bottom and try and climb back up, but honestly, I don't know all that much about tactics, what sort of players to look for, etc. Most of my time, I buy good players and jam them into formation, which usually works :P

Anyone any tips though for someone who doesn't have experience with anything lower than PL teams? :o

Get a good parent club. Loans & free transfers ftw.

I personally feel that you either tackle the league or a cup run, can be difficult to manage both (especially if you are semi-pro).

Manage your funds well, don't stock up on players you know you won't need.

Be ready to ship out players (even if they are loyal servants) when the time is right (to make money/space/etc)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,916 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

    Started a game with Basingstoke.

Asked for a parent club, and the board said they can't find one :(

Everytime I load the game it generates a whole host of fake names? Like Man United would have a whole lot of regens playing for them? How can I fix this?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,126 ✭✭✭Reekwind

When starting a new game make sure sure that the 'Use Real Player' option is selected. Otherwise you get a load of randomers. Which can be fun

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭James__10

Does anyone know how to remove Portsmouth from administration using the editor?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭Joshua J

Been playing FM for 20 years, FM11 being the last one until i bought 13 couple of weeks ago. Now I dont know what happened in 12 cause didn't buy it but Sigames have gone and broken it. It's silly. If I had goals/shots ratio of my opponents I'd win every game by 7-8 goals. But drawing or losing games you completely dominate gets a bit tiring after a while.

Now I realise that these things happen in football etc but not most games and with the regularity it happens in this. The new training sucks too. I am dissappoint.

I would be very surprised if it is, the format never lent itself to console play at all.

If you do a clean install on your laptop and re-install FM it should give it a little boost. Also remember to save ur saved games.

What are ur laptop specs btw?

Tip: Don't save messages in your notebook. I found that that slowed my game riiiiiight down
