Cracked Tooth?

I cracked my tooth a few months back, it was a minor crack and in hindsight I should have gone to the dentist but I'm bloody petrified of them! It has now gotten worse and the filling that I had appears to have crumbled away and there is a hole, which hurts when I eat/drink hot or cold things only, and a slight twinge every now and then! I've emailed my dentist for an appointment but does this sound like I'd need a crown or just a filling?

It will depend on the tooth, but having broken a molar myself recently, it was a root canal and crown.

I cracked a heavily filled premolar recently and had the same problems with it that you describe. During treatment one side of the remaining cracked off but the dentist put in a pin and a huge filling and said it might work out ok. But if not then maybe a crown would be the solution down the line.

Good luck with it anyway! :)
