Hi there - Im new to this site and am looking for some advice from anyone in the same situation! I was having severe bloating after eating and stomach pains after drinking alcohol. It turns out I have a borderline underactive thyroid and also just been for the cameras up and down and they discovered H Pylori Infection - Im taking the three lots of antibiotics and im STARVING and Tired all the time! I really want to get rid of this bug with the antibiotics & Diet (also looking to lose weight (around 3 stone)

My consultant only told me I had the infection and Ive to return within the month but I wasnt given any advice on foods to eat / avoid - Ive done research on the net but its all conflicting - and VERY restricted! Can anyone help me with this please? THANKS :)

My mother has suffered from H. Pylori on and off for donkey's years. She has IBS and Diverticulitis as well so she has a lot of issues, but she tried an exclusion diet to figure out what was causing the most discomfort, and cut out everything that caused her upset. The stuff you're reading on the net is probably conflicting because people have different reactions to food types. For example, my mother was told to eat lots of fibre, but that left her in agony. Wheat/gluten can often play havoc (if you had trouble when drinking beer, eating bread etc. and bloating is an issue, this could be something you're sensitive to). I wonder if it's worth having a food allergy/tolerance test too, to see whether there's anything that you may be particularly sensitive to, that you could cut out, and then work from there?

I hope you're feeling better and more comfortable soon. :)

Research suggests supplementing with glutamine - myprotein sell it - is helpful in repairing damage caused by h pylori

Low sugar diet and acidophilus supplement also recommended

I had this and found the anti biotics horrible.

Had a taste of coal in my mouth.

I've been taking acidophilus as suggest above.

i got it 3 years back - what greatly helped

    1. Digestive Enzymes
2.Short course FODMAP diet - neednt be as extreme, but i really found eating lots of plain easily digestible foods worked wonders

Avoid all alochol. A protien and fat rich diet with little carb will help as the bug in the stomach tend not to be able to live off protien and fat and prefer carbs, you digest these in the small and large intestine. They also make you feel more full and even blood sugar levels.....

Having said that always take professional advice, the antibiotics can cause stomach upset.
