Is it an s5 or sl5 or maybe and ns-3s, superb qualit mods but can be heavy, i had a jetz compact, great mod, built like a tank but heavy

I've got an ase northstar stainless .25 cal mod, and like ormondprop said it's a bit heavy, but on the other hand it does it's job very well

Personally i think they are among the best mods out there for performance. Definitely one of if not the quietest.

Drawback is as said above the weight. Now while not a huge is it's the way they attach. Most are muzzle screw on meaning all that weight is added to the end of the barrel, and blance is badly affected by them.

At times i found myself carrying mine in my pocket until i was setup or out to where i wanted to be. however for foxing you do not have the time to keep screwing on and off.

Also they are probably the most expensive mods. Average prices are between €350, an as high as €430 depending on model, and dealer it is bought from.

There are cheaper alternatives that are better balanced (usually reflex), and lighter. The difference is noise reduction is not the same, but that's not to say they do not reduce the report effectively.

I've got an ase northstar stainless .30 cal mod, over barrel type, and use it on my .308 AND .223. It reduces the noise effectly and I am happy with mine on both rifles.

My mate just got a new ase utra SL 5 moderator for his 308.
It is smaller and lighter than the original S 5 model.
It is stainless and sound reduction is good.

I have an ASE jet z on my .223 its a .25 calibre, it reduces the noise right down to that of a .22lr. Its a mighty piece of kit.

It's a sl5, it was recommended to me by the dealer but i know nothing about them, he said it was 1 of the newer 1's on the market and 1 of the best who was i to say wheather, well i guess he's sound.

I've never used that model but i have no doubt they preform well, they weigh in or around 400g so not too heavy but there are lighter mods out there, what rifle are you putting it on and what will you be using it for

For foxing i'd recommend something lighter, my .204 is coming wit a t4 and i'm tempted to change it for an a-tec when i have around 300 to spare, the cmm4 weighs 220g compared to 580g which a t4 weighs, which in my opinion is too much to have hanging out of a hunting rifle

why would something lighter be better for foxing than something heavier for deer?

You should get a 20 cal mod for your 204. I have a dm80 20 cal one on mine and its very quiet. The sonic 45 mods are also available in 20 cal.
I dont think id buy an A-tec after seeing how much the baffles have worn in my mates after about 30 rounds of 223 ammo.

I never mentioned deer, by foxing i meant hunting, a heavy mod is grand for targets and varminting but if your walking a lot and shooting freehand the lighter the better,

Thanks for the info on the atecs zeissman, that rules them out, i contacted dave about the dm80's and he wont send to an irish dealer and its too much hassle for me to bring in through the north so i'll take a look at them sonics or maybe get one custom made by one of the riflesmiths, i'd like an overbarrel .20 cal mod
