Environmental pollution in Sallins

I was passing by the canal and noticed this:

It looks like a used car oil, a smelly, black and oily fluid. This is not the first time when someone decided to get rid off it there. The path is full of that kind of spots where oil is covered with gravel. I can't understand why people are doing such things, just beside is a canal with ducks, swans and fish. Is it too expensive to give it away legally?

It's likely an accidental spill. Old engine oil can be disposed of at a recycling centre for free.

That's 'official' pollution - pothole filling by KCC

As Curlz24 has said, it is not oil or nothing like it. It is KCC filling in potholes. People complain when they don't fill them in and people complain when they do fill them in

OP, I would highly recommend you forward your pictures together with location and any other relevant info to info@waterwaysireland.org

Waterways Ireland are the statutory body in charge of the canals and have responsibility for tow paths too.
