    Hi All,

Just wondering what your thoughts are on platinum floor insulation. I need approx 90 sheets of floor insulation quite soon and a couple of the suppliers I have rang have mentioned the platinum, apparently it has better insulation properties over time, however it comes in cheaper so little confused as to how its cheaper if its better. Best price I am getting for normal 100mm floor insulation is €36 per sheet for Ballytherm.

your first step is to figure out what performance you need from your insulation. Then you decide what materials, and in what quantity, you need.

at that stage you do your cost analysis.

Hoping to probably go for 150mm. Would go 200mm but don't think budget will permit. Have done a bit of research on it and think we are going to aerobaord for complete house.

Went with 150mm polystyrene in the end which worked out about €30 for 8x4 sheet with 100mm for perimeter surround. Will be going with 100mm internal polystyrene aswell. Done a bit of research on it and found its better than your foil back PIR (loses thermal value after a period of time and also manufactured with gas compared to polystyrene which is air filled)
