Hi I bought some cargo pants online but they left the security tag attached to one of the pairs. Can anyone remove this for me please?

If it's the one with a metal pin and a plastic tag you can try holding a strong magnet to the metal pin and while gripping the pin and magnet with one hand and the plastic tag in the other pull them both away from the garment. Most shops have a detagging system that is done by magnets.

But finding a strong magnet might be as awkward as just posting back the item!

It should be free to return them if you write 'return to sender' on the package they were posted in. The company might give you vouchers for next purchase by way of apology.

There are a few types. The black circular type with the dye warning on them are removed by strong magnets, but are often extremely tricky with the shop's own equipment so I don't recommend messing with it yourself, the dye thing isn't a lie. The whit elong-pin one is quite popular. These are impossible to take off yourself. Unfortunately the detagging machines fit exactly, so if it's a different shape it won't work.

This is the white type I mean http://www.securitytagstore.com/admin/uploadedfiles/Supertag.jpg

And this is the circular dye one https://encrypted-tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQCYB1STKfe0txzGhiseHN_INH3i5OYMAbMH30ZwoR4glyWE3x5

Dunnes Henry Street have the first type. (Other Dunnes have the second type). A-Wear have the second type, I am pretty sure. They may not do it for you, just go in and have your receipt/invoice to show they are not robbed and they'll probably oblige you. It's definitely worth a shot.

If it's a different type of tag, it might be more hassle than it's worth to find a shop who can take it off. Most will be either one or the other of the above.

Vero Moda on grafton street have the first type of tag and I'm sure if you bring your online receipt with you and explain what happened they would happily remove it for you.

Yes It's the black ink type security tag. Do they use then in Dunnes by any chance? I can usually charm the old dears in there lol
