Are "realistic" salaries realistic?

I'm going for an interview today for a charity which says "earn 306eu p/w + daily bonuses and realistic earnings for sucsessful candidates can be €500+"
Bonuses are offered on a daily basis, so I don't know how often you'd actually get them.
My natural scepticism has made me wary over how realistic this actually is. I was hoping maybe it'd be realistic for me to get something more like 350-400, but is that even achievable or should I just resign myself to the 306 p/w?

I have no idea sorry but would love to hear how you get on.

Take these concern people on the streets...I reckon their success rate has to be less than 5% and I subsequently wonder why anyone would take such a job.

Are you going to work for a charity or an agency that collects for a charity?

Anyway I'd ask them during the interview:
    • what % of staff actually earn €500. Watch for the vagueness and weasel words.
    • How much in donations you would need to collect before you earned €500. You can make a call on how realistic that is

My guess, as with any advert, the €500 is the top end, if you are really really good a what you do. You may be good at it but chances that you'll be good at it in week one are probably slim, right?

It says that there is unlimited earning potential- €500 is apparently (according to them, anyway) is easy enough to get and not the maximum, as there is no maximum

This question is impossible to answer.

It all depends on how good of a sales person you are, who your market is, etc.

    I'll give you an example.

I used to work in an office where one girl was in charge of selling to hotels, and one guy was in charge of selling to gyms.

Both had a very different sales style, but I would say both worked just as hard.

This was during the "celtic tiger".

At the time hotels were booming and gyms were not doing so well (I don't know why). As a result she had to do very little yet earned a lot of money, and he had to do a lot yet earned little.

So in theory I could say the earning potential in the office was the girls salary, and realistically you could earn this if you are given a similar market or are simply a very good sales person, but maybe you will be given a troubled market or maybe you are simply not cut out for sales.

If you want me to take a guess I would doubt you will make 500 pw in this market. Most people are not going to spend their excess cash on charities when they are paranoid they might lose their job. But who knows, you might make more, I don't know how charismatic you are. :)
