Iwas rummaging in the attic when i came across 9 or 10 gold charms from around 1970s.I remember buying them one at the time back then but had forgotten they existed, the bracelet they were on is missing and they were in a little bag.A ten shilling note in one,3 rings,a jockey cap,a basket,a lamp etc and i am wondering if these have any real value these days.I collect lots of things but must confess these do not have much appeal and i am wondering what they might be worth.

I remember charm bracelets being very popular back in the 1970's alrite..my mother and aunt both had them. I think they've probably fallen out of favour a bit nowadays and you really dont see them very much anymore.

However i'm sure, like anything, they still have thier followers and i reckon try ebay as your first port of call and see if you can find anything similar for sale and at what price.

If not you can always sell the gold by weight(but NOT to a we buy gold place, they'll dry you out!).

Nice charms seem to be retailing on ebay for around the 60 dollar mark.

Thanks had another look at them and only some are marked 375 so i presume the unmarked ones have less value. The one with the 10 shilling note is marked and might be worth a few quid even though the note will be well creased if it was taken out. Thanks again.

It might be worth your while having them looked at by an antique dealer as they could be older than you think..for example, ten shilling notes pre-date the 1970's!

Did you buy them new or secondhand?

I had not realised that. I certainly bought some of them new in the seventies though her indoors may have bought some herself some look as if they are not of great quality and others look well made i will show them to someone though my gut feeling is that are only worth a few hundred at best.

the ones stamped 375 are 9 carat

alot of smaller charms were unmarked as the stamp would take from their detail and once they test as gold there value will be the same as marked ones

Get them weighted to get a benchmark price, a fair price to be getting today for the gold value alone would be €14 per gram of 9 carat
you have to allow for any glass that would be used in the charms - beads, panes for the one with the note etc

For example the one linked above would be worth ~€30 for the gold alone
The ones with notes in them usually have a wieght of around 1.5g of gold but these usually sell for around €40

If you want to post photos here I can tell you which ones are worth more than just the gold value
