    Hi All....

I know the quetion is a bit subjetive..but just wondering out of these two which is the easiest and best option for home study..F9 or F6..?

I can afford to go to college for only one at a time..(timewise and moneywise)..

I have no accountancy background and have a completely non related job..

    Just to give idea...i scored
    f1-84,f2-68,f3-84,f4-76,f7-67..
out of these i went college for only f7..rest were self study..

I was planning to do F9 self..but recetly saw some posts saying F6 is very very easy..and F9 is hard,,.is it true..or it is easy for only people who are from tax background..
peronnaly I still prefer to do f9 by myself with no apparent reason..

    please help..

    thanks..

Been a while since I sat both but if I were gonna go to college for one Id be inclined to go for f6 tax not necessarily harder paper but it is subject to frequent change so sometimes it good to know the lecturer knows their stuff and the depth and breath of the course, there is some tricky bits in f9 however I think if you make the effort at ome n not just leave til wk b4 to cram (from ur results looks like u do) ull prob grasp it by reading the book and a few articles online etc as extra resources :) good luck ;)

F9 is difficult but you just need to do every question in the exam kits.
I find Kaplan fantastic for the books and they have great online resources.

Opentuition.com have free lectures which are particularly good for F9.
A guy called John Moffat is the lecturer and he is fantastic.

Kaplan give great exam tips too for F9 about 2 weeks before the exam
They give away about 50% of the exam :)

    Good luck.

I'd agree with the other 2 posters. Whilst F9 is the harder paper, I think it's more suitable to home study than F6. There are a load of little rules and techniques in F6 and a good teacher will make any sort of learning curve a lot more manageable. Plus, as mentioned above, tax rules/laws are subject to change every year.

If you were to go for tuition in Dublin, I would only really consider Julie Hawkins. She's a great lecturer.
