Where To Find Investment Opportunities?!

I've about E50,000 which I'm looking to invest with. Thing is, I've no idea where to find investment opportunities. Are there websites that display start-ups or something?!

I was thinking about going into Gold but I've decided to see if I can do anything else with it before making to plunge...

You sound like you are thinking about putting it all in one investment (I may be wrong) but I think you should first decide what your risk apetite is and then think about having a well diversified portfolio of investments. Depending on your experience in investing you could look at various ETFs or go for individual company shares, in the latter you would need to do a good bit of your own research. Also, markets are quite volatile at the moment so leaving it on deposit and learning more about what investment techniques you want to go with when/if things normalise could be the wisest option for now.

    Best of luck

If you have the time buy a guide to investing book (I would recommend "One up on Wall Street" by Peter Lynch) and build yourself a basic investment strategy, which is what sort of risk are you willing to take? Are you looking for short term or long term gains? What sort of industries do you prefer/ know about, etc.

Dont dive into investing without some idea or knowledge of what you are doing, especially with €50k as it is no amount to be snuffed at.

Impossible to give advice without knowing more about your personal & financial circumstances.

However, you should know that you are entitled to invest in certain tax incentive investments such as film relief, pension contributions, BES investments e.t.c. The amount you can invest in tax relief schemes is limited by the revenue. Have you used up all your limits? The minimum investment term for tax relief investments ranges from approx 5 years to your retirement age, depending on the tax relief scheme.

If you're going to take the plunge with Gold or something similar this would tend to suit a longer term investment and may be suitable for your pension planning, which means you can get tax relief on your investment in addition to any return on the investment.

Would need to know a lot more in order to give proper advice, including:

How much tax do you pay per year?
What rate of tax do you pay?
How long do you want to put your money away for?
What level of risk are you prepared to take in exchange for potential increased returns?
What does your investment portfolio currently comprise of? (value+ term of deposits, pension, investments...)
    What is your age?
When do you plan to stop working?

    Best of luck!
