is it possible to apply for the driving test with points on a provisional licence and if so is there a limit on how many points you can have?

also, is the limit still 12 on a provisional as it is on a full?

    thanks.

According to the ROTR, the penalty point system is the very same for a full license as it is for a learner permit (formerly provisional license). So, the limit should be 12.
I'm almost certain you can sit your driving test despite points being applied to your provisional.

Yes you can. I had speeding points on my licence when I took the test and now have them for a few months more on my full licence.
They never asked me at any stage whether I had points or not.
