That time of the year again. 4 European IM races in 4 weeks.

    Starting today with

    Ironman Regensburg
    Ironman France
    Ironman Austria
    Ironman Germany

To track athelete by country in the new IM website..dont go into track an athlete as option not there. go into live coverage of race..then select open overlay window to track athlete by country. alan ryan ripping it up in Germany at present. popcorn time.

Alan ryans race report from Germany

    http://www.triathlonireland.com/index.php?id=107&nid=833

After reading it i get the impression he is either

    A. Naturally talented!!!!
B Or telling some little fibs about the amt of training he has done

    Am i way off?

Seems like a nice guy all the same.

he has been at it years and training solidly for years. don't underestimate the cumulative effect of training properly for donkeys

Alan comes across as a very understated guy, who doesnt preach about the training he does.

Lance is winning IM Nice. Having lead out of the swim he is powering away on the bike through the Nice hills at a very high cadence. Oh no wait....he hasn't actually started the race....shame :p

Non wetsuit swim in Austria confirmed this morning. That'll change things. Must be savage warm.

  • Subscribers Posts: 19,425 ✭✭✭✭Oryx

I can report it is 37 degrees predicted for race and feels that warm now. Times out the window just a matter of survival out there. :)

RedB in 2:13 and handangeo in 1.48 - no sign of Red on the bike as yet, hope all is well there...

and 1:28 for Ceepo who's going strong in the early stages of the bike.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,208 ✭✭✭shotgunmcos

All Boardsies out on the bike and making progress. Swim times slow across the board but fair play RedB, 2:13... you made the cut off dude, now enjoy the rest of the day in the sun :) Ceepo going well

Scary the difference the non wetsuit swim makes - there's a few out there that are well down on what I would have thought they would have done the swim in

+1 from what I can see of the large LTC crew over there 10-20 mins slower. I noticed the Pros took 50mins which is 4-5 mins off their norm too..

Go team Boards. The non wetsuit swim is a real eye opener how it can damage your split time. At least its behind them now and they can enjoy the bike and run.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,208 ✭✭✭shotgunmcos

Kevin Thornton is an uber swimmer and he did 57.. goes to show. He is first in off the bike too with a 5:08, conservative? It looked like they were swimming against a flow coming into the swim finish?

Katie Cooke having a super race too

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,208 ✭✭✭shotgunmcos

    Boards Gang

Red B just over half way on the bike, 91km in 5:57 total

Handangeo having a solid bike, at 125km in 5:49 total

Ceepo at 145km in 5:46 total, if he has run legs after this, could be interesting

Oryx our resident hoochie is at 91km, approx 17 minutes ahead of RedB! Go Girl!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,436 ✭✭✭Izoard

Great to see Red out on the bike- was getting a little nervous there...

    Fantastic stuff!

Looking at some of the pros bike splits they look a little slower than i would have expected, perhaps bike is back to 180km. I think it was 175 last year? Graves seems to be dying a death on the run.
