Anyone have any tips on how to get this open? Separated wd40 on it and still no movement?

i think it might be possible that the latch spring system is broken..

when you press and it wouldn't disengage..

it happened to me previously on my old golf..

Try to get some tool to push the latch based on the opening you can get..

Dealers should be able to replace that reasonably cheap?? mine was replaced when it went for service the last time around

See if you can spot the cable running to the latch itself. Then, figure some way to get your hand in there to give the cable a pull and pop the lock open.

This technique has worked for me on a few cars - haven't tried it on a Golf, though.
