The awful news that Gareth Roberts co-driver to Craig Breen has been killed in an accident on the Targa Florio round of the IRC has been confirmed. Such sad news, Gareth seemed to really love what he did he always had a big grin on his face. He was a really good co-driver too. Gareth and Craig became FIA WRC Academy champions last November.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and Craig.

    R.I.P Gareth Roberts

Been an awful few weeks for rallying, not just here but in europe as well. So sad to see him gone. Same age as myself, really brings it home. He always had a smile on his face, seemed to enjoy every minute of it and was a fine co-driver. Thoughts are with his family and friends, especially with Craig. I hope he can find the courage to rally again in the future

    Sad news.
    RIP

There's a video from after the crash and ive seen people walk out unscratched out of much worse cars. :(

Anyone know what actually happened or how they crashed?

Really, trust me you haven't seen anyone walk out of a crash like that. The car clipped the end of a crash barrier and it pierced through the car, like Kubica's accident last year, very very sad news. Was on stage 9 on the Donegal rally this morning when I heard the news, you could sense the mood changing when people started finding out what had happened.

Heard some rumours that Roberts suffered a horrible end, much like the injuries that Francois Cevert suffered at Watkins Glen in 73. R.I.P., a terrible tragedy.

Gareth's girlfriend has been on twitter asking people to stop sharing videos and photos of the accident. Apparently it's getting very hard to avoid them.
