    Hanoverian Baron 2.05 York 12/1

Think this fella could be well handicapped tomorrow running off a mark of 85. His last win came last July off a 3 pound higher mark at Ascot on good to firm going over 10 furlongs but is versatile ground and trip wise as he has won on soft twice over 10 and over 12 on g/f. He has been contesting some valuable handicaps since his last win, with his best run coming off a six pound higher mark when he was 4th in the November handicap at Donny last backend, staying on well to finish about 8 lengths beaten by Zuider Zee. Wasn't as good last run last season when disappointing as favourite at Lingfield, and had a poor come back last year but he's been dropped 6lbs from 91 since his last run and he should be better for the come back. Looks a nice each way price, though I know zero about the jockey Miss C Hannaford.

    Saamidd 3.45 York 6/1

Hard to be overly confident on this one but he could prove a class above these. He looked a top class 2 year old when winning a Newbury maiden on debut before going on to win the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster from Approve. He was highly touted before he disappointed in the Dewhurst won by Frankel ( Frankie Dettori and Godolphin used to have the nickname ''Pegasus'' for him) and finished miles down the field in the next year's Guineas. His career has been blighted with injuries since, but he ran a cracker on his comeback this year in a really strong conditions' race over a mile at Kempton, beaten a nose by Sri Putra, finishing 2 lengths clear of the strong Side Glance (who beat tomorrow's rival Dance and Dance last time out) . I think he's a big price given that he is the highest rated of these with 114, though his run last time out over seven furlongs is a worry, though I'll take a chance on that just being a blip as he comes back up in trip. Main worry would be the soft description in the ground, but at this price I'll take the chance. Think the front two in the market are too short in the betting, and Rockinante is a big danger back up in trip to a mile

3.25 Sandown Ballesteros 7/2 with Boyles atm, 6.4 on Betfair.

On the soft surface this one looks decent value, rang a stinker lto but the fav, Pearl Secret looks looney short at 8/15 on the surface.

Saamid as tipped above by Urbs is the only other horse I'll be backing tomorrow.

    Sholaan 12/1

Quite like the look of Willie Haggas's 3 year old who I think could definitely be suited by both the softer ground, drop back in trip and application of first time blinkers. Although a well touted 2 year old who put in a couple of decent efforts to finish 2nd, he was ultimately a bit disappointing. However, he started off his 3 year old career with a bang with an all the way win on the AW at Wolves in a maiden to score impressively over the 7f trip by 2.5L on his 4th start. Utilising his excellent draw in stall 1, todays jockey Liam Jones led from the front and he was always travelling the best as they turned home. When Jones applied a bit of exertion to get more out of his mount, Sholaan began hanging left and then right showing signs of either inexperience or a bit of loneliness out in front but he still had more than enough in hand to win despite these quirks. The form of that race has worked out really well with the 2nd his two subsequent starts in handicaps including his last race off a mark of 83 and he is now rated 88. Furthermore, the 3rd Mizwaaj (5.75L behind) won a maiden on his next start before running a good 4th on handicap debut off a mark of 84 to finish 2L in the race won by Curzon Line. The 4th has also won a maiden on his only subsequent start in a race that has worked out well and he has been assigned an opening handicap mark of 85 so in retrospect Sholaan's handicap mark of 87 today looks rather lenient.

On his last start and on handicap debut off a mark of 89, Sholaan was clearly very well fancied with Ryan Moore booked as he was supported into favouritism but he could only finish a 3.5L beaten 8th. From his wide draw in stall 13, Sholaan was pretty keen earlier on as he took a keen hold and I don't think he really came down the hill at Epsom's undulating track to well either. When asked to quicken with a few furlongs to go, Sholaan again showed some quirks as he veered a bit left and right and Moore ceased applying maximum driving inside the final furlong when he knew winning was beyond him and he probably could have finished a little bit closer if desired. Despite being a bit disappointing, he certainly isn't worth giving up on yet with a 2lb drop to a mark of 87 being a help. Blinkers being applied for the first time look ideal and should definitely help him focus and look certain to improve him quite a bit. He has a pedigree that suggests the drop back in trip will suit and he certainly looked to have enough pace for 6f when winning at Wolverhampton. Although the soft ground is an unknown, I think it could definitely bring about some improvement as he is a half brother to a soft ground Group 3 winner and his extra stamina should definitely help if the race becomes a war of attrition.

Liam Jones takes the ride and he has been on board for 3 of his 5 starts to date and its his only ride of the day. Although he has a little over 2L to find with Van Ellis with only a 2lb swing from the last race, I think the aforementioned factors could help swing it in Sholaan's favour. The form of his victory certainly suggests that his mark of 87 shouldn't be beyond him and with only 5 starts to date he certainly is entitled to a fair amount of progression. Although Priceless Jewell is a worth favourite and should definitely prove to be a better horse than her mark of 90, I'm willing to take her on in the big field on what may prove unsuitable soft ground. Connections of Sholaan clearly felt he was good enough to win off a mark of 89 given the support LTO which clearly demonstrates they like him quite a bit. With a good draw in stall 4 and with trainer Willie Haggas having an excellent 26% strike rate at the track with his 3 year olds, I think Sholaan looks set to run a big race tomorrow being his in form trainers only representative of the day.

I've also backed David Evans Pale Orchid 33/1 as I'm fascinated by the booking of Paul Hanagan. The trainer/jockey combination has yielded a 19% strike rate in the past 5 seasons and this represents his first ride on this 3 year old. In relation to the horse, he's been running consistently but not fantastically recently but he's fallen to a mark of 87 and he's only 3lb below his last winning mark. With Richard Fahey having a runner in the race that Hanagan has ridden plenty of times before, it may definitely be a case that the in form Evans believes he has his filly in top order and at a big price I'm definitely willing to have a small e/w if Hanagan being booked means business.

This could be a very intersting race, there are a few i would fancy for this one, and like you i am a bit curious about Hanagan on Pale Orchid.

Lily's Angel has being a ride for Hanagan. The drop back in class and distance will really help Lily's Angel but gving the ride to Laura Barry, i am not sure.

Van Ellis again a horse i like, Demuro on for the first time.

Gabriel's Lad, big move up in class but with K Fallon on for the first time, last race started in stall 1 and had a big race and a few lb's lighter today.

Priceless Jewel has all the NAP's today, again up a bit in class, down a bit in weight. Doyles 3rd time with the ride out of the 4 runs. Travelled lovely the last race. Got a nice opening and steamed up through the field to win.

Three Am Tour another horse i like and i am just waiting for this horse to win again, with the drop in weight today could be in for a big race, 3 places in the last 3 races at this class. Levey has the ride again 2nd race in a row. Came 3rd last race, just behind Glen Moss another NAP'ed horse in this race, but i think if Three Am Tour had of gotten an opening instead of having to go around in the run in, the race would have ended differently. So 25/1 Three Am Tour is my choice and will keep fingers crossed for a place at least.

Money coming in a big way for Ginger Ted in the last race at York. I missed the boat on the price and will wait and see if he takes another drift before backing him

He's definitely going to pop in at a big price in the very near future, its just a matter of catching him.

Boris Grigoriev in my view looks a sprinter, and his one good run this year was in a 6 Furlong Listed Sprint that has worked out very near top class. His run there in 6th would make his mark here of 85 look very enticing were it not for a number of poor runs since (Although mostly over further). Last year he ran another great race in a Group 3 at the Curragh on Soft Ground when 3rd behind 2 decent stalemates. Given the few factors in his favour here in that he is bottom of the weights, has come down considerably in mark and goes on soft, along with the fact he has a proper jockey on today all leads to the hope that today might be a going day. 50 on Betfair looks worth a bet just in case
    1pt win 50 1pt place 9 Betfair

    2:05 York
Halla San looks a very solid place bet in this race. He is down to a reasonable mark will certainly stay and go on the soft ground and has been running well this year apart maybe from his last run. This ground could find out a lot of this field today and 9.0 to place on Betfair looks about double his real odds of making the first 4. I’ll have to have a small min bet for the win just in case.
    2 Points Place 9.0 Betfair .5pt win 55

    2:35 York
Classic Colori, I tough would be shorter for this race, she ran an eye-catching race last time out on soft ground and the extra furlong here will only help. She has a long losing record but I’m not seeing a lot in the opposition today and 7/1 looks at least 2 points too big.
2 Points win 7/1 Betfair and BetVictor

    3:45 York
Doncaster Rover has proven softer ground form, and with only 3 runners in this race its likely to be a slow enough pace which will suit him as he hasn’t been this far before. He’s against a horse that’s too short in the betting with a bit to prove and one with no Soft Ground form. 5/1 with Stanjames in this race looks value .
2 Points win 5/1 Stan James

Ginger Ted, ,my extremely strong fancy from last weekend, is getting his traditional pre-race drift and I'll be backing him when he hits 16/1 with BOG. He's going to pop up at a big price soon and hopefully its today. Also, I think Jedward looks a ridiculous price at 20/1 with Hanagan on board for the first time who has extremely strong form in Ireland and will love the ground.
