Evolution: Fact or Fiction?

    Hey guys,

A follow on from the Evolution thread we had a few months back - I edited a video for a relatively new channel on mine, discussing the topic of evolution and presenting evidence to support it as an observable fact.

Unless it's tits, or Justin Bieber... It's hard to get traffic towards youtube videos. I have 2 videos up on my channel, and I'm going to try edit a few more over the next few weeks. It's very time consuming, so I'm going to try keep them short (3 mins max).

Note: Sound is screwed up for mobile devices, so watch on a PC for best quality.

Have you considered doing an "Evolution of breasts" video? Youtube stardom awaits!

    Nicely done.

Good video - but try using a pop shield (aka pop filter) - you can make one with a pair of tights and a coat hanger ...

Are you terrified of your own voice or something? What's with the bizarre audio filter? Volume is also really low.

Great video, keep up the good work. I posted the video around the place. Hopefully you'll see some traffic go your way.

I second the comments regarding the audio, but I'm sure it's not his fault. Just working with what hes got guys.

There's no audio filter? That's recorded directly to audacity. I think my microphone has a loose wire or something, as I never got pops from it before. I'll have to invest in a new one soon :)

Is the audio really that poor? Aside from the occasional pop here and there, it sounds ok here.

When I tried watching it on my phone, it was god awful and exceedingly scratchy. Just tried it on my pc there and it seems to be pretty much fine, no background noise etc. Except it seems as if you're hitting the Mic on occasion. :pac: It's rather interesting though, I really have to do some proper reading up on evolution at some point. Any books that anyone would recommend ?

Thanks - Someone else on their phone said it was poor on there also. I'll disable it from playing on mobile devices.

I'd reccomend Jerry Coyne's book - Why evolution is true. Best of the lot I think with respect to presenting evidence as to what evolution is and why it is a fact.

Actually, apart from a few pops at the start, the sound quality is pretty good. (IMO, obviously.)

To me it sounded pretty low and thiny. There were a few pops near the end to but nothing that takes away from the presentation really.

Thanks :) Must be just an issue with mobile devices so. They are now disabled from playing the video, so people on PC's should be only able to view it now.

A few audio pops here and there, but nothing overly annoying. Re: volume, it's fine. I watched on a laptop BTW.

Pretty sure Audacity has EQ' and Compressors in it, so for your next video just pop on an EQ and cut off everything below 40 HZ and above about 17000HZ. The put on a second EQ and tone down about 550 HZ a little bit. It should remove pops, hiss and any rumble on most devices.

Applying a compressor and setting the peak correctly will give a stable volume level throughout the audio.

    Cheers! :)

Logical Fallacy, will keep it in mind for next video - thanks! I've only basic experience with audacity. But it's fairly intuitive.

There were a lot of pops on my laptop in the last 30 seconds, it was perfect up until then.

Great Video - nicely put together

The audio compression triples when youtube detects a 3g connection and that is what causes the mobile device issue btw
If you're getting a new mic I recoomend this guy its amazing
